Complete Performance Baseball Academy Scout Day: Takeaways

On Tuesday, September 16th the Prep Baseball New Jersey staff traveled to Wood-Ridge Athletic Complex, for the Complete Performance Baseball Academy Scout Day.
This event is always a great opportunity for us to get our eyes on the talented players within the CPBA organization and this year's showcase proved to be a success.
We wanted to take the time to highlight a number of the standout players from the event in a Takeaways story, found below.
Position Players
OF/SS Jason Amalbert (DePaul Catholic, 2026 & Oklahoma Commit) displayed an explosive skillset at the Scout Day. The 6 '1 and 185-pound utility player peaked at 102.8 mph exit velocity and threw 87 mph across the diamond from shortstop. Amalbert led the pack with the quickest sixty-yard as well recording a time of 6.73. One of the Northeast's premiere bats to look out for next high school season.
C/1B Jayden Marte (DePaul Catholic, 2026) is a polished all-around player that just entered his senior year of high school. The physical catcher has a durable frame of 6 '0 and 185-pounds. During defense, Marte displayed the quickest pop-time of the Scout Day with a time of 1.93-1.96 and had an arm strength of 77 mph. Offensively, Marte produced an exit velocity that peaked at 92.5 mph.
OF Jonah Carbon (DePaul Catholic, 2027) displayed one of the Scout Day's most polished swings. The left-handed hitting outfielder had an impressive round of BP with multiple balls leaving the yard and also produced a max exit velocity of 94.3 mph. At 5 '10 and 186-pounds, Jonah has a frame with more room for growth.
C/3B Erick Pinales (DePaul Catholic, 2026) impressed with his all-around Scout Day performance. The 5 '8 and 180-pound catcher displayed the pop in his bat with a peak exit velocity of 98.1 mph and a max distance of 354 feet. Behind the plate, Pinales flashed a pop-time of 1.99-2.09 and an arm strength of 78 mph.
Two-way Players
OF/RHP Eric Marano (DePaul Catholic, 2028) a 5 '7 and 130-pound two-way prospect that possesses a wiry, quick-twitch skillset. Offensively, Marano peaked at an exit velocity of 88.5 mph while driving the ball into the left-center field gap. On the mound, he displayed the Scout Day's top breaking pitch with a slider that had a spin rate up to 2,793 RPM. His fastball was 81-83 mph and his changeup was 72-75 mph. Marano turned some heads in his Prep Baseball debut.
Pitchers
RHP Christopher Marano (DePaul Catholic, 2026 & Stetson Commit) the right-hander is 5 '10 and 175-pounds. Marano produced an electric bullpen that ended with him peaking at 92.3 mph on his fastball. His fastball was consistently 91-92 mph the whole bullpen and produced up to 19 inches of horizontal movement. The slider was thrown at 82-83 mph and had a spin rate up to 2,572 RPM with negative 18 inches of horizontal movement. His changeup was 85-86 mph with slight downward fade. The number 6 RHP in NJ's 2026 class was very impressive.
RHP Chase Colaianni (DePaul Catholic, 2027 & Stetson Commit) a recent commit to Stetson University. The 6 '1 and 175-pound right-hander saw his fastball jump 7 mph from the last time we saw him in September of 2024. His fastball range was 87-89 mph and peaked at 89.6 mph with up to 18.5 inches of induced vertical break. The slider was thrown at 73-74 mph and was spun over 2,500 RPM. His changeup was 77-79 mph. Colaianni is one of NJ's highest risers of the Fall season.
RHP Kevin Gallagher (St. Peter's Prep, 2028) a 5 '11 and 167-pound right-handed pitcher, Kevin had the hardest thrown fastball for his grad year at 84.2 mph, sitting 83-84 mph with 13 inches of horizontal movement. The slider was thrown at 72-75 mph and had negative 8 inches of horizontal movement. His changeup was 77-79 mph and had up to 20 inches of horizontal movement. Gallagher is a North Jersey pitcher to keep an eye on.
