TOP OVERALL PROSPECTS
1. Aiden Beck, Wylie (TX), 2028
Positional Profile: LHP/1B RHH/1B/OF LHS Great build/frame to add needed strength in future. Look for speed to increase with adding strength and physical maturity. Good OF'r, moves well to baseball. Shows developing actions at 1st, projects to be solid 1st baseman. Shows ability to impact baseball in BP. Project solid power/hit combo in future with adjustments. Player to watch develop over next 2 years. LHS arm works, arm speed will continue to develop. Delivery can be firmed. Strike thrower with stuff. FB will develop increased velocity. Tail/sink action present. Feel for both CB and change present. CB shows depth, will develop ability manipulate action. Change has action with deception. Great pitchers frame/body. Watch progress, feel for secondary now is added plus.
Body: 6-3, 181 pounds. Great build/frame to add strength in future. Projects very well physically.
Hit: RHH. Open stance, strides closed. Rotational back foot, shows linear movement at times. Recommend firming linear movement due to length of stride, linear move will increase use of lower 1/2 in swing. Hits into firm front leg. Rolls onto side stride foot, works fine. Body lays back at point of contact, work to get more upright with posture at contact, linear move will help with posture. Little more upright will allow for increased rotational acceleration. Work to develop core with rotational exercises. Barrel/hands in good launch position. Hands cast out at times creating length to swing, work to take hands on path down the inside line of batters box. Barrel works down and around creating uphill path along with body laid back, taking hands on direct path and firmed posture will allow for barrel to work on direct path. 68.2 mph bat speed with 8g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 100 mph max exit velocity (89.1 avg.); 363-foot max batted distance. Solid power/bat combo in future with power over hit. Hit approach and swing adjustments will improve contact consistency and impact.
Arm: LH. INF - 84 mph. OF - 89 mph. Arm works, shows carry to throws. Continue to develop raw arm strength with long toss program.
Defense: OF…Nice job moving to baseball, breaking down and fielding baseball off to side and out front. 1B…solid coming off bag, getting feet into position to field. Deep..feet work getting to baseball, breaking down to field. When deep can improve playing thru baseball with feet. Hands work fine, fields baseball deep, work to field baseball out front.
Athletic Testing: 7.33 runner in the 60-yard dash; 18.90-inch max vertical jump. Solid start with good run form and stride length. Will develop into avg at least in future with added strength and physical maturity.
Delivery: High knee lift with inward turn. Works stride leg down the slope. 3rd base side start, stride foot landing leg varies, occasionally lands just slightly past the midline of body other times lands with very minor cross step, firm landing spot, just don't want to be past midline with open toe. Nice job of getting over front side.
Arm Action: LH. Full circle, works well. Nice lay back of arm. 3/4 slot with semi crossbody finish with extension to release. Arm speed will continue to develop.
FB: T83, 81-83 mph. FB shows tail/sink down. Fair plane/carry up. Velocity will increase. Around zone with FB. T2038, 1979 average rpm.
CB: 71-73 mph. Feel for CB present showing solid action, depth to finish. Spin will firm some in future. T1895, 1889 average rpm.
CH: 78-78 mph. Change with action/deception present, sink/tail. Quality feel for pitch. T1842, 1651 average rpm.
