Rising Stars on the Radar: 2028 RHP James Fenton (Metuchen)
October 31, 2025
The number one pitcher and the number one overall player in the Garden State’s 2028 class. Fenton has a lean, wiry frame of 6-foot-2 and 160-pounds and possesses a whippy arm action. He has been one of the highest rising prospects in the Northeast region for the past 12 months.
Tall right-handed pitcher was last seen by Prep Baseball in February, and his fastball was sitting 81-85 and topped 86 mph with up to 19 inches of induced vertical break. Fenton flashed a curveball that he threw 63-65 mph and a slider that was thrown 70-74 mph. Since his last Prep Baseball appearance, Fenton has increased the velocities of all his pitches, including consistently touching low 90 mph with his fastball. He has a loose, wiry arm action that will only continue to develop as he matures and grows into his frame. What is also impressive with Fenton is how he constantly delivers in gameplay, he is not only touching numbers off the mound, but he is competing and dominating.
Overall, Fenton is coming off an extremely impressive summer and fall circuit and has cemented his name in the conversation of the Northeast’s top arm talents. Keep an eye-out for Fenton this upcoming high school season.
