Cooperstown Cobras Scout Day: Quick Hits

On Sunday, October 26th, the PB Texas staff traveled to Chisolm Trail High School in Fort Worth, TX, to host the Cooperstown Cobras Scout Day.
Nearly 100 players made their way to Chisolm Trail this past weekend and participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Texas staff.
We have already released a Statistical Analysis from the event, and today we will be releasing our scouting takeaways on some of the event's top performers.

2026 Grads
Paul Fussell | SS/2B | Liberty Christian | 2026 | 5’10” 176 | R/R
Nice build/frame to add strength, projects well physically. Plus runner with 6.73 60. Actions present on the infield, solid footwork moves well to ball, hands work, fields baseball little deep at times, easy fix. Avg HS arm strength now with carry to throws. Arm strength will continue to develop. Good approach to hit, shows solid line drive contact, ability to use all fields. Middle infielder with actions, all field approach at plate, power coming.
Jacob Keuss | 3B | V.R. Eaton | 2026 | 6’0” 185 | R/R
Solid build/frame to add strength, width to shoulders and back. Fringe plus runner, 6.92 60. Feet work well to baseball. Hands work okay, glove tap present causing him to field baseball deep. Plus HS arm now, can throw. Showed off raw arm strength in this event, accuracy wandered, not a long term issue, plenty of raw arm strength to get there on time and not overthrow. Show pull side power in limited game play. Bat speed present, approach developing.
Layton Murrell | C | Springtown | 2026 | 6’1” 204 | R/R
Solid build/frame to add strength. Solid receiver, shows feel for blocking balls. Feet work coming out from behind plate. Carry to throws with avg accuracy. Pop times of 1.99. Aggressive swinger, flashes hard contact. Pull side power coming. Solid catch and throw, hit tool will continue to improve. Wants to be great, hard worker.
Trey Poe | OF | Justin Northwest | 2026 | 6’2” 190 | L/R
Physically, great build/frame to add strength. Plus runner with 6.79 60. Defensively moves well to baseball, can play CF. Carry to throws present, avg HS arm strength now, will improve. Shows bat speed with hard contact, power is developing. LHH, can play CF, contact with developing power.
Kyle Poindexter | OF | Aledo | 2026 | 5’8” 170 | R/R
Good build/frame to add strength, width to shoulders and back. Plus runner with 6.84 60. Shows solid actions in OF, aggressively moves to baseball, breaks down well to field. Shows avg HS arm strength now, arm works well. Raw arm strength will increase. Dead stop hands, shows bat speed with ability to impact baseball, 101+ exit velo. Interesting player who will develop.
Madden Taylor | 1B/3B | Paradise | 2026 | 6’0” 180 | S/R
Good build/frame to add strength. 7.09 60. 1st base, feet work well coming of bag, nice job setting feet to field baseball when playing deep. Hands work. See no reason he can’t play 3rd. Avg HS arm strength now with carry to throws. Flashes ability to impact baseball both sides of plate. Looking for raw power to develop.
Connor Whitmire | C | Aledo | 2026 | 6’1” 207 | R/R
Solid build/frame to add strength. Runs well, 7.03 60. Stood out with catch and throw combination. Good glove to hand exchange with quickness. Showed arm strength with accurate throws. Pop times in workout 1.89–1.93. Flashed some pull side power, avg bat speed. Can catch and throw, pull side power. Good player.
Cash Watson | CF | Paradise | 2026 | 5’6” 150 | L/L
6.75 60. Don’t let listed height and weight fool you, athletic, strong with explosiveness present. Solid defensive center fielder with plus range. Moves well to baseball, nice job of breaking down to field ball. Shows off arm strength, can improve staying behind baseball for backspin carry. Bat speed present, flashes ability to impact baseball. Hit over power, will get to gaps for extra base hits. Carries himself very well on the baseball field. Like the tools.
2027 Grads
Drake Hawpe | OF | Liberty Christian | 2027 | 6’1” 201 | L/L | LSU Commit
Drake in his 2 rounds of BP. Round 1…take some swings, get loose. Round 2…hit balls hard, including some high and really far. The most impressive aspect of his day. Didn’t need to be there, committed to CWS Champion LSU. Spends the afternoon with his Cobras teammates and friends. Player you want in your org, and not just because of the talent.
DJ Denny | SS/CF | Argyle | 2027 | 6’1” 181 | R/R
Great build/frame to add strength, athletic. Plus runner, 6.72 60. Moves well to baseball with good feet. Glove flipper, can firm hands eliminating flip. Avg arm strength with carry to throws, arm will continue to develop. Hit baseballs hard with top of 102 of barrel, will have power. Good looking hitter, solid approach.
Tyler King | CF | Liberty Christian School | 2027 | 6’3” 191 | R/R | Texas State Commit
Great build/frame to add strength. 6.49 60 at past event. Defensively, plus range. Avg HS arm now, raw arm strength will continue to develop. Bat speed present, impacts baseball at times now. Will continue to improve. Great sign for Texas State. If I were still scouting, I would put a low follow in. Athletic, WAA runner, can play CF, great body to add strength, bat speed flashing ability to impact baseball.
Mac Martin | SS/2B | Denton Guyer | 2027 | 5’10” 174 | R/R
Solid build/frame to add increased strength, width to back and shoulders present. Plus runner, 6.90 60. Feet work well on the infield, actions present. Shows body control and agility. Accurate throws with carry, avg HS arm now, will continue to develop. Consistent hard contact with dead pull approach, like the swing, will clean up approach, will hit.
Ryan Floyd | 3B/RHP | Liberty Christian School | 2027 | 5’10” 165 | R/R
Solid build/frame to add strength. 7.16 60, chance to develop into avg runner. Moves well on the infield, nice job breaking down with good hands, actions. During BP, took balls off bat at 3rd, impressive 1st step quickness along with showing quick hands. Did not see take BP. Bullpen…arm works well, repeats delivery. FB up to 88 showing developing life to both sides of plate, carry present. Change showed tail/sink action along with deception. Short action to slider with ability to spin baseball present. Interesting on the mound.
2028 grads
Connor Jenkins | SS/2B | Eagle Mountain | R/R | 5’10” 142
Projects well physically. 7.57 60, will improve. Actions present on the infield. Feet work moving to baseball, nice job breaking down to field, hands in good position. Carry to throws now, chance to have above avg HS arm strength in future. Swing works showing bat speed, lacks strength to impact baseball presently. Player who will develop as he adds strength.
Lincoln Smith | SS | Springtown | R/R | 5’8” 140
Nice frame/build to add strength. Defensively has actions. Feet work, hands in solid position. Arm strength will develop. Solid approach to hit. Bat speed will improve. Tools that will continue to develop.
Holden Ventura | OF/LHP | Justin Northwest | L/L | 6’0” 175
Solid build/frame to add strength. 7.39 60, increased speed will come. Moves fine to baseball in OF, arm works okay, raw arm strength will develop. Shows some bat speed with consistent ability to barrel baseball. Power coming.
Colt Dobbs | OF | Lake County Christian | R/R | 6’1” 170
Good build/frame to add strength. 7.11 60, could develop into plus runner. Nice job getting to baseball and breaking down. Arm works, will have avg HS arm strength in future. Shows bat speed and hard contact off barrel. Player who will develop.

Nice build/frame to add strength. 7.10 60, chance to develop into plus runner. Actions on defense present, moves well to baseball, hands work. Raw arm strength will improve. Short to baseball showing solid line drive contact at times. Player showing developing tools.
Santiago Farmer | C/1B | Byron Nelson | R/R | 6’1” 200
Solid build, width to shoulders and back. Will develop physically. 6.87 60, moves well. Defensively has versatility. OF nice job of getting to baseball, breaking down. 1st base…solid at 1st, feet and hands work. Catching, nice job of blocking baseball and moving from behind plate. Shows raw arm strength in OF and at 1st. Rushed throws to 2nd catching, raw arm strength is there to firm. Aggressive swinger, shows bat speed, hard contact off barrel. Great frame to add strength, plus runner, shows ability to impact baseball. Player to watch develop.

Great build/frame to add strength in future. Plus runner with 6.78 60. Actions on the infield with feet showing quickness, hands work well. Showed body control and agility. Arm works, raw arm strength will develop. Shows bat speed, will develop power. Athletic with speed, can play defense. Upside to bat/power with adjustments at plate. Tools, watch develop.
