Las Vegas Fall ID: Quick Hits

Brett Harrison
West Coast Supervisor

The Las Vegas Fall ID took place on Sunday, October 26th at Centennial High School. This event will feature a collection of promising prospects from Nevada's 2026–2030 graduating classes, each aiming to display the progress they have made over the course of the busy summer and fall schedule.

The Las Vegas Fall ID allowed our staff to evaluate prospects before the winter offseason. The event served as an identifier for future invite-only events such as the West Coast Games, Top Prospect Games, Future Games, and more.

All highlights from the Fall ID will be promoted on PrepBaseball.com. Prep Baseball is subscribed to by nearly 1000 colleges and pro scouts across the country. All results will be posted on the site; along with players’ highlights.

LAS VEGAS FALL ID: QUICK HITS

Lucas Jaggers OF / RHP / Southeast Career Tech, NV / 2026

Arguably the biggest winner of the Las Vegas Fall ID, Jaggers made a huge impression on the Prep Baseball Staff with standout numbers posted in almost every stat category that applied to him. The Prep Baseball Verified 6’2/196.4 announced his presence early with a 6.42 second VALD 60 Time, followed by an Event Best’s - 90 mph Outfield Velocity and 107.9 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity. Proving himself as a premium athlete, this is a player who should be on more than a few radars heading in to his Senior campaign.

Eli Leone 3B / SS / Faith Lutheran, NV / 2027

Coming from Big League Bloodlines, the 2025 Future Gamer has continued to see his game trend each time out with us. A high level athlete who has now begun to fill out his frame to only amplify his game, especially on the offensive side, his line drive filled Batting Practice Session started to flash his power potential as he showed off his ability lift the ball with an new personal best TrackMan Exit Velocity of 99.3 mph along with a new Max Distance of 370 feet. Leone made huge jumps in 2025, and you can expect 2026 to be his breakout year as one of the top overall players in the 2027 Class.

Karsen Smaka OF / Palo Verde, NV / 2027

After almost a year off due to injury, Smaka looked as if he hasn’t skipped a beat at the Las Vegas Fall ID. The tools have always been there and he only continue to improve on them with multiple personal bests posted in yesterday’s event, proving his has continued to put in the work during his downtime. Now standing at 5’9/177, his 99 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity along with his 6.46 second VALD 60 Time is a testament to his added physical strength that is only amplifying his present twitchiness. Smaka is going to be a key piece of the success for Palo Verde this coming Spring and should be on more than a few radars heading into 2026.

Kane Barber LHP / 1B / Centennial, NV / 2026

The 2x Future Gamer has always relied on his pitchability, commanding the zone with each of his three pitches and now has added more velocity to his game with his fastball running up to an easy 84 mph with arm side life, along with the addition of a cutter that he showed immediate comfort tunneling off his fastball. The added strength over the Summer with him now standing at 6’/181.9, you can expect his game to continue to trend heading into his Senior season.

Nicholas Collingbourne RHP / RHP / Southeast Career Tech, NV / 2026

The 2024 West Coast Games alumni, the 6’2/186.3 incoming senior showed off the additional polish of his mix at the Las Vegas Fall ID. Earning the event’s Top Fastball Velocity at 86.7 mph, his 15.3 inches of Horizontal Movement proved that his feel for the pitch is trending with more life each time out with us. Pair with his SL/CB/SPL secondary mix, each pitch showed not only improved shape, but improved tunneling off the fastball with his Splitter showing the most improvement with repeated armspeed of his fastball and the present ability to locate. This is a player who will be one to keep tabs on as he has the physical attributes and now the secondary mix to go along with it.

Elian Ruiz LHP / Basic Academy of International Studies, NV / 2026

A senior who quietly put together a handful of key performances in 2025 for Basic Academy on their way to a State Title, Ruiz impressed at his first Prep Baseball event with command of each of his three pitches that saw his fastball run up to 83.9 mph with natural arm side life and heaviness. His secondary mix consisting of a slider and changeup, this is a left-hander that understand how to work off his fastball, generating late, tighter action with his slider and a heavier action off his fastball with his changeup. Keep an eye on Ruiz to have a more impactful role for the Wolves this Spring as they look to run it back in 2026.

Steven Alvarado 1B / OF / Foothill, NV / 2026

Another player who made an immediate impression during his first event out with us, Alvarado got the Batting Practice Session started with a loud round  that saw him drive the ball to the big part of the yard. At 6’3/170.6, he showed off his balanced left-handed stroke that had present feel for the barrel with much more power projected to come as he fills out his lean, wiry frame.

Gino Mendoza SS / RHP / Bishop Gorman, NV / 2027

Another winner at the Las Vegas Fall ID, Gino Mendoza get his day started off with one of the top defensive showing at shortstop, showing off his active feet that work to get him around and through the ball with ease. At the plate, he proved his ability to find the barrel from both sides of the plate with a line drive producing swing that stayed balanced throughout.

Jaxon Burr SS / 2B / Centennial, NV / 2028

The MTBA product is another player who announced his presence at the Las Vegas Fall ID. Making his way on to our radar at the MTBA Fall Evaluations, he got to show off his complete game at yesterday’s event where he proved himself as a player who can get it done on both sides of the ball. Still youthful in his build and appearance, Burr is one to keep tabs on over the next few years with much more expected to come from his game.

Tate Crine RHP / 3B / Boulder City, NV / 2027

With his move to exclusively be on the mound, Crine is going to be one we follow intently with his four pitch mix (FB/SL/CB/CH) that he showed command and feel for during his Bullpen Session at the Las Vegas Fall ID. His fastball still with plenty of velocity expected to come set the tone for each of his other pitches, with his SL that showed present sweep, his CB that has present depth and arguably his most impressive pitch being his CH that he throws with the same conviction as his fastball, but you see heavier arms side action with a -5 mph speed differential.
