LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - As we begin to wind down the bulk of the fall baseball calendar of events for the Prep Baseball California and on the travel baseball circuit the focus begins to shift towards the high school exhibition season and our Preseason event calendar. During the previous months our staff was afforded the opportunity to grow more acquainted with the next class of players making their way onto the high school baseball scene in the class of 2029. We as a staff have gotten our eyes on personally, spoke with travel baseball coach/high school coaches and more about this next wave of talent stepping on to campuses for the first time this fall. With all the information we have gathered we are excited to announce our inital Class of 2029 Player Rankings.
We open this class with 50 names on the board and an intriguing blend of talent all over the field and from number 1 to number 50 on this initial release. The Top-10 is filled with names that will start their high school careers very well-known to our staff and others around the amateur baseball sphere especially on the position player side. Beyond the Top-10 we have a strong collection of talent throughout this initial board of players and don't be surprised as this class continues to evolve we see upward movement amongst this initial set of names to push their way up the board as they continue developing.
The recruiting process for this class is still nearly two years away with the recruiting rules limiting contact with this class until Aug. 1st of the summer prior to their JR. seasons in high school. But, make no mistake that college coaches around the country are paying attention to the names appearing on this board and will be keeping tabs on this class over the next 18+ months of their development in anticipation of when these players become eligible to begin contact with those coaches.
Below you'll find the Top 10, with notes on each of the players inside our Top-10 and five names to know outside the Top-10.

CLASS OF 2029 RANKINGS: Diving in on the Top-1o
+ SS/RHP Jordan Leon - Sierra Canyon: No. 1
The underclass talent at Sierra Canyon just continues to get deeper and even more talented with the Trailblazers boasting the number 2 player in 2028 and now Leon takes his spot atop the 2029 class. Athletically built at present with emerging strength in his frame the foundation of ability for Leon is immense across the board. Jordan has shown legitimate high level potential as both a RH hitting INF who has a well connected turn with ability to use the ground effectively while showing off impressive present power and has potential for even more as he continues to develop. As good as Leon is at the plate he is equally as impressive if not even slightly more on the mound. Using an athletic, clean operation with low effort reaching the upper 80's on his FB in the fall while spinning off impressive mid to upper 70's SLDs for whiffs the ceiling for Leon is as intriguingly high as his RH hitting profile. Leon is going to be hard to unseat from this top spot should he continue to play to his potential and continue to develop in the future.
+ SS Cooper Holland - Santa Margarita Catholic: No. 2
SoCal shortstops are always a hot commodity in any class nationally and then when they are talented LH hitters who will play their high school careers in the uber competitive Trinity League their names are going to be featured in bold. Holland is an athletically built Orange County product who shows a smooth swing from the LH side with balance in his lower 1/2, present bat speed, consistent bat to ball in the profile with impact and more to come. He swung the bat at a high level this fall on the SoCal Scout Ball circuit and was impressive as part of the USA Baseball NTIS program during the summer. His presently high level hit tool carries the profile going into high school, but make no mistake his actions on the defensive side of the game don't trail far behind with the foundation of skills at the spot to solidfy himself as a SoCal shortstop for the now and the long term. While he may not open his career at Santa Margarita Catholic handling the SS spot for the Eagles with Brody Schumaker still in the program this spring, but his future is looking bright as a LH hitting SS that college programs are going to need to keep close tabs on over the next two years ahead of the Aug. 1 2027 contact date.
+ OF/LHP Mattias Di Maggio - Dos Pueblos: No. 3
Di Maggio was another standout during the summer at the USA Baseball NTIS program where he routinely hammered the baseball from the LH side with exit velocities north of 100+ MPH for the incoming FR. hitter. His swing is a picture of controlled violence as he generates intriguing bat speed, stays through the middle of the field with his direction allowing him to drive the ball to all fields and has shown the approach/timing to handle a variety of pitching. He opened his varsity level track record by posting a cycle in a fall exhibition game during early Nov. and one can expect him to take a key spot in the lineup for the Dos Pueblos Chargers program as a Fr.. A LH thrower he is athletic enough to play all over the OF and likely will start his career in an OF corner, but has plenty of potential for a future in CF which pushes his profile even higher. He has shown two-way potential as a strike throwing LHP who has arm strength to the operation and the makings of an intriguing profile on the bump. But, the more the 6'3 185 lbs. LH hitter continues to hammer baseballs to all fields the harder it's going to be hard to not envision a high level future for him in the batters box and OF grass.
+ 3B Colton Windham - Granite Hills: No. 4
The trend of high level LH hitters who know how to hit and have impact at present in their bat continues into the number four spot on our board where Windham checks in. Standing a present 6'2 185 lbs. Windham has been an imposing present in the box for multiple years on the youth level and has not let up on his ability to hammer baseballs heading into high school. He uses a small leg kick in his load, but maintains body control in the move to launch and uncorks a well-sequenced swing with loft in the bat path to drive the baseball from line to line with loud impact. The HR power at present for Windham plays mostly to the pull side, but with his ability to stay in the ground during his turn and keep his barrel through the zone Windham will likely grow into line to line HR power. Like most talented young players Windham can step on the bump and be a strong pitcher with low to mid 80's present velocity while throwing strikes that does have some potential for a future on the mound, but his profile like Di Maggio just ahead of him appears best suited for a career hammering the ball from the batters box.
+ SS/RHP Enzi-Yaw Otieku - Encinal: No. 5
Otieku is the first player from Northern California to appear on this board and make no mistake he has the type of ability across the board to potentially make a case for the No. 1 spot. Otieku is another two-way profile player who has legitimate ability as both a hitter and pitcher which he showed off as a member for the 2025 Team California Junior Future Games squad. His FB works into the upper 80's during game situations from an explosive arm that has now reached into the low 90's during the fall in bullpens with a potential power CB in the upper 70's and feel for a solid CHG. But, don't label him a pitcher just yet, because Otieku can really swing the bat from the RH side with upper 90's max EVs and carry from the middle to pull side of the field. Enzi has a consistent feel for finding his barrel at contact that will give him a chance to be a high level hitter with the actions and arm strength to stick on the left side of the INF for a long time. He opens his high school career sitting in the number five spot overall and presently the top ranked player from NorCal who may see his name tick up this board in the future.
+ SS Romeo De La Torre - Corona: No. 6
The last person to man shortstop for the Corona Panthers program held down the spot for almost four full years of high school before going on to be the number 10 overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft in Billy Carlson. While it's too soon to project that type of future on the incoming Fr. SS De La Torre make no mistake that the RH hitter brings an impressive overall profile into one of the top programs in California and nationally. De La Torre has legitimate thump in his bat with a balanced operation that makes strong use of his lower 1/2 during the turn to drive the baseball with authority from the middle to pull side of the field. He produced at a high level for the Canes Travel program during the fall period of 2025 with extra base hits from line to line while showing HR power to his pull side. Romeo is solidly built at present with emerging strength to his frame that he puts to good use while in the box. While the Panthers likely have older options who may man the SS position in spring 2026 don't be surprised if we see the RH bat of De La Torre get a chance to impact their lineup and for the next two years ahead of Aug. 1 2027 there will be plenty of college programs keeping tabs on the present No. 6 player in the class.
+ RHP/OF Marquis Johnson - Sierra Canyon: No. 7
A program loaded with underclass talent gets richer with the No. 7 ranked Johnson who has legitimate two-way potential like the other Trailblazer in our Top-10. He is athletic running a 6.9 60 at present which translates into an intriuging defensive profile in CF where he has flashed impact potential with an arm that already reaches 90 MPH from the OF. All of the athleticism and strength in his frame doesn't just translate to an impressive defensive profile, but carries over into the batters box. Johnson taps into his 6'3 185 lbs. present frame effectively during his swing using the ground effectively during the turn with aggressive hips and the ability to get his barrel in the zone early with bat speed while producing length through the zone in his path. He has legitimate present juice at the plate that will play from the middle to pull side and looks the part of potentially line to line power in the future. The arm strength for Johnson is not only present when he is manning the OF, but also once he toes the rubber where his arm strength translates into loud present velocity/stuff from an athletic operation.
+ 3B Ty Glaus - Santa Fe Christian: No. 8
Another highly talented LH hitter inside the Top-10 Glaus not only boasts loud present tools at the plate, but has the MLB bloodlines of his father Troy Glaus (UCLA and Angels standout). Glaus has a projectable frame with length throughout including high hips and long levers in the box to dream on that he can pack strength on in the future like his father had throughout his career. Glaus was a member of the Team USA 12U squad back in 2023 and has just continued to get better showing off an intriguing hit/power tool at the plate to go with present actions at 3B where he looks the part of a strong defender at the hot corner. Glaus showed well during the summer of 2025 heading into fall where he showed well during the travel ball circuit. It's a smooth operation in the box for Glaus who uses his hips effectively during the turn with length in the zone for his barrel and natural loft after contact generating carry from the middle to pull side. He opens his career in the number eight spot, but with added strength to come on his frame there is plenty of reason to envision a potential push up this board in the future for the LH hitter.
+ OF/RHP Josiah Park - Orange Lutheran: No. 9
Another member of the Canes Travel program Park put together a strong summer heading into his Fr. year on campus at the national powerhouse Orange Lutheran program and has only continued to show well this fall. He hit in the top spot for Canes where he smaller, but athletic build profiled to an intriguing offensive profile. He controls his movements in the load very well and once he reaches launch for the swing uncorks an intriguing turn with ability to get into the ground with his lower 1/2 and capped by fast hands which shoot line drive from line to line. His speed is a weapon at present not only on the offensive side where he can push for extra bases on any ball in the gaps or down the line, but help him show impact potential defense in the OF. He adds to his profile by showing a low to mid 80's present FB from a solidly athletic operation down the mound spinning a solid vertical breaking CB. Park debuts in the number nine spot on our board and as he continues to mature physically, athletically and with his two-way profile he should remain amongst the top players in the class for the entirety of his high school career.
+ 3B/RHP Louis Lappe - Harvard-Westlake: No. 10
Lappe was the hero of a 2023 El Segundo Little League squad which claimed the Little League World Series title on his walk-off home run. That was just the start of his presence on the scene as he would go on to make the Team USA 15U national team this summer/fall where he slotted into the number four spot in their lineup. He has a strength based swing which has a natural uphill path allowing him to hit the ball with authority in the air. His frame meshes with his power profile offensive ability checking in at 6'3 and nearing 200 lbs. as a Fr. for the powerhouse Harvard-Westlake program. While his bat may have made him famous on a national level it's what the number ten player in our initial rankings does on the bump that is sparking even more intrigue. A low effort, clean operation down the mound with a smooth arm action Lappe easily gets to his present velocity with ability to control the strike zone. He backs up the FB with a pair of solid present offspeed offerings in his SLD and CHG which will only continue to get better under the guidance of the Harvard-Westlake staff.
CLASS OF 2029 RANKINGS: Five Names to Know Outside the Top-10
+ OF Isaiah McIntyre - Tracy: No. 11
McIntyre checks in just outside the Top-10, but the LH hitting OF from NorCal might not remain there for long with his intriguing hit tool and impact level defensive profile in CF. The smooth swing of McIntrye produces consistent line drive contact from line to line with upper 80's present max EVs from the 5'10 140ish lbs. frame he features hit over power in the profile, but can really hit. A member of the 2025 Team California Junior Future Game squad he drew "Kenny Lofton" comps from State Director Les Lukach for his ability to hit the ball all over the field and create chaos on the bases which will only get better as he adds strength to his wiry athletic frame. Hank LoForte Associate Director NorCal has raved about Isaiah for a long time ahead of this rankings and the NorCal product has done nothing, but back up that glowing praise as he heads into his Fr. year on campus at Tracy High School.
+ RHP/OF Nathan Englander - Harvard-Westlake: No. 14
Englander was the other half of the 2029 grad class duo who earned a spot on the 2024 Team California Junior Future Games squad. Englander played for the Legacy Baseball Group during the summer/fall travel circuit and now heads to the campus of Harvard-Westlake joining a very strong group on 2029's who are now Wolverines. The two-way profile for Englander is strong across the board with a solid 6'2 180 lbs. frame that shows emerging strength with plenty of room to fill in the future to tap into the power which appears present throughout his profile. On the mound Englander presently works in the mid-80's on his FB with a clean operation and shows a solid present CB with a good shape that has potential as he adds power/velocity to the offering. His offensive ability was on display during the 2024 Junior Future Games where Englander posted multiple extra base hits including just missing a HR to the LCF gap in his first at bat against a mid 80's arm from Tennessee. Nathan has made adjustments to his operation in the box from the set up to his load over the last two years, but with each adjustment he has continued to hit and hit with impact across the board. The RH hitter employs a leg kick with balance at launch turning effectively through his hips and featuring an uphill bat path geared for impact in the air that shold give him a power profile at the dish going forward for him offensively.
+ RHP/1B Cash Hall - Huntington Beach: No. 17
A program like Huntington Beach with it's tradition and powerhouse pedigree is sure each year to be full of talented incoming players and Cash Hall is the top one arriving in the 2029 class. Like so many on this initial rankings Hall boasts an intriguing two-way overall profile to go with his imposing and projectable 6'6 195 lbs. frame as an incoming Fr.. Hall features a clean easy delivery with natural arm speed that presently sits in the low to mid-80's with his FB which he can attack the zone with on a steep downhill path making it difficult for hitters to connect with. There is plenty to love about the operation for Hall on the mound, but then when you get a look at his operation in the batters box it's hard to not wonder if his biggest potential is as a RH hitter with real power. Hall loads with a small front foot stride and weight shift back doing a good job of separating his hands from his body and takes an aggressive turn with his lower 1/2 while allowing his hands to stay back. The bat path for Hall has length through the zone with an uphill path geared for loft showing real juice from the pull side gap to the pull side foul line that can grow into potential line to line impact. In a program full of high level players at Huntington Beach Hall looks like the next name to know stepping on campus for his Fr. season.
+ SS Anthony Daniel - Notre Dame: No. 20
Daniel has been on our radar at the Prep Baseball California for well over a year now as he earned a spot on the 2024 Team California Junior Future Games squad after his seventh grade year and then made a return trip with the 2025 team to LakePoint. Daniel has gone to work on his compact, athletic frame to start to add some strength (now checks in at 5'8 142.7 lbs.) heading into his Fr. season which has helped his strong overall baseball foundation continue to trend up. A high level bat to ball profile earned him his initial trip to Georgia for Junior Future Games, but the added strength to his frame has helped turn that line drive contact into increased impact with his peak EV now at 89.7 MPH while averaging 85 MPH. His glove, hands, footwork and feel for playing SS are already strong profile tools and with the 85 MPH present arm strength showing carry with accuracy to his throws puts him in contention for potentially winning the SS job at Notre Dame High School in the competitive Mission League in his Fr. season. His strong present foundation and projection for continued development for Daniel puts him at number 17 on our initial board and will be one to keep close tabs on going forward for the 2029 class.
+ INF/RHP Brian Owen - Serra (Gardena): No. 22
Owen is a member of the PFA Travel ball program and is attending the solid Serra (Gardena) program where the rising Fr. has a chance to be an impact piece for the program quickly. He put together a strong summer for the PFA program with his hit tool on display. Owen uses a quiet operation in the box with a small load, controlled move to launch while keeping his hands quiet that allows for him to make a well connected turn through the baseball to produce hard contact. His showing at the 2025 OC Freshmen Free event held at Hart Park was impressive during both the batting practice and defensive workouts including EVs into the mid-90's at the dish with mid-80's arm velocity from the INF with sound actions. For good measure he showed the two-way ability in his profile during his bullpen session with 81-83 MPH velocity on a FB which filled the zone and was backed up by a pair of offspeed offerings which he showed a feel for throwing in the zone (70-72 MPH CHG / 69-71 MPH CB). The profile for our number 20 at present player in the 2029 class looks higher on the offensive side, but will be one to keep close tabs on as he continues to develop over the coming years.
