Rising Stars on the Radar: 2028 MIF Vince Filis (Princeton Day)
November 22, 2025
Filis is one of the most reliable defenders in the entire 2028 New Jersey class. He really showcased his defensive ability this summer at the East Coast Super Sophomore Games in North Carolina. The middle infielder is 5-foot-10 and 155-pounds with athleticism and has flashed his speed with a 6.89 sixty-yard dash.
As already mentioned, Filis was a standout performer defensively in the showcase and gameplay portion of the ECSSG. He works through his fielding progression in a very athletic position with quick jab steps that build momentum into his throws. To start his fielding progression, he consistently begins with a prep step gather and stays alert on his toes. In gameplay, he displayed his ability to easily and repeatedly make the routine plays look routine. Vince also flashed his range up the middle and to the ⅚ hole with some tricky plays he made. His 85-mph arm strength to himself in the position to make plays in the hole and on the run.
Offensively, he has a gap-to-gap line drive approach that translated very well into gameplay. His barrel awareness and barrel control allows him to be a consistent offensive performer. He starts with a high hand set up and loads into a moderate scap load and lands into a solid hitting position. Filis has produced a max exit velocity of 93 mph, an average exit velocity of 88.1 mph and a max distance of 342 feet.
Overall, Filis is a high-level defender and a top-of-the-order offensive talent as well. He is a well-rounded, talented young prospect to keep an eye on this high school season.
