All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.
Today, we put the spotlight on a talented 2026 player who is featured inside the Top 275 of our 2026 California rankings. We are looking at the SoCal based '26 SS/3B Hector Anaya from Quartz Hill High School in Quartz Hill, Calif.. Anaya debuted on the Prep Baseball California event platform this fall with a standout performance at the High Desert Uncommitted Game. This performance backed up what was a very strong performance during his JR. season at Quartz Hill High School where he was a key piece to a second place finish in the Golden League with an 11-3 league record and a berth in the CIF-Southern Section playoffs.
Anaya earned the starting shortstop role at Quartz Hill in his first full season on the varsity level while taking a spot in the top of the Royals lineup. Hector played in all 28 games taking 83 plate appearances with 69 official at bats on the spring season while posting a strong slash line of .348/.451/.435 tying for the team lead in with 24 total hits on the season. The RH hitter tallied four extra base hits with two doubles and two triples (lead the team). His 16 RBIs on the spring tied for second on the team while his 17 runs scored were good for third on the squad. For good measure he posted a sound walk to strikeout ratio with nine walks on the spring against 13 strikeouts only three players drew more walks on the Royals then Anaya while his eight stolen bases were good for second on the team.
Anaya employs a simple and short toe tap stride with his front foot and maintains body control in the load keeping his head quiet with a small hand load. He works down into his lower half maintaining his balance during his turn with the rear shoulder driving through contact while sequencing effectively with barrel lag working through the zone. His simple operation in the load allows him to make sound swing decisions and the RHH uses his hips to rotate and generates intriguing present torque posting 17.3 Gs of rotational acceleration. His swing path is leveraged through the zone geared mainly for middle of the field contact with strong present metrics. Anaya relies on his quick hands up to 21.4 MPH peak hand speed and barrel accuracy with bat speed at 65.9 MPH. His simple operation in the box combined with his sound approach/timing produces consistently solid batted ball data via Trackman including a max EV up to 91.2 MPH during his batting practice with an average EV at 82 MPH and sprayed line drives around the field with a max distance of 316' with a 63% sweet spot rate.
Anaya has an athletic frame with wiry present strength to it checking in at 5'10 148 lbs. with room to add another 15-25 lbs. in the future with his broad shoulders and room to fill on the lower half. He is a solid defender who plays with body control, fluid footwork, smooth consistent hands and feel for his angles in all directions. The arm is solid with consistent accuracy to his throws from the shortstop position with fringey strength at present for SS (80 MPH INF velocity), but can comfortably handle a 2B/3B profile at the next level. He ran a 7.4 60 on a blustery windy day at the High Desert Uncommitted Games with runners running into a stiff 20+ MPH wind, but has shown previous 7.0 range 60 yard times which projects his long term INF defensive athleticism.
The overall profile for Anaya is sound across the board with atop of the order offensive profile, solid INF defensive ability and the foundation of a track record of playing at a high level. Those factors all add up to a player whose present profile is a strong one to know for college programs on the hunt in 2026 for pieces to help their program win and is also one that has continued upside to it as he keeps developing and improving.

Anaya made his debut on the Prep Baseball California event platform in his backyard by attending the High Desert Uncommitted Game. The short trip gave Anaya the opportunity to showcase everything I saw from in a live look during the 2025 CIF-Southern Section High School season. Checking in at 5'10 147.9 lbs at present Anaya is wiry in build, but strong on talent as a baseball player who possesses solid tools across the board. Running a 7.4 60 yard time which will get faster as he adds strength onto his wiry frame at present while showing an accurate smooth 80 MPH INF arm which plays in workouts, but even better in game with his quick transfer and confidence throwing from different angles he looks the part of a long term INF defender with solid to strong ability. As much as I like what Anaya does on the defensive side of the game it was the high level consistency to his offensive ability that really stood out for me on the day. During BP the RH hitter lived up the middle to the opposite field with a compact swing that produced 21.4 MPH hand speed, 66 MPH bat speed while rotating with 17.3 Gs of rotational acceleration in the turn. Anaya produced a 63% sweet spot rate while peaking at 91.2 MPH on his max exit velocity spraying line drives all over the field. His profile is strongly trended towards a present hit tool which played in game with multiple hits all working from the middle to opposite side of the field with hard contact. Anaya boasts present high level baseball ability with plenty to dream on about his physical frame/athleticism in the future that can still be developed that gives you more to dream on about an already strong player from the high desert.
A wiry lean frame with solid actions across the board who projects to stay up the middle defensively with solid feet, sound hands, flashing solid arm strength with room to add that could keep him at SS should that strength come, but easily can be a strong defender at 2B. This was my first look at Anaya and the profile was sound across the board including at the dish where he displayed a compact RH swing with hands that worked well and flashed his feel for using the lower half in the turn portion of the swing. It’s a leverage based path looking to work through the middle of the field with hard line drive contact and lets his hands adjust to the pitch height, velocity, type, etc. over trying to do damage with an aggressive swing. Anaya drew an early walk and went to the opposite field on an outer half FB low in the zone to collect an RBI single for his two solid at bats of the day. It was a solid first impression for me with the High Desert based SS and one who I would like to get eyes on again in the future to compare his development to my initial viewing.
