Uncommitted Reports
Cam Gates C / Bedford-North Lawrence, IN / 2027+ From Preseason All-State 2025: The top-ranked uncommitted catcher on our board as we lead into the winter, Gates is a versatile C/SS w arm strength and aggressive actions in total. His right-handed hacks play with a quality blend of feel & aggression with exits reaching 93-plus from an athletic operation. The arm is an above average tool, working 87 across the diamond, and allowing for above-average catch and throw skills (1.87-1.98 pops, 79 from crouch) with an easy average run time showing now (7.15). |
Crewe Hasenour SS / C / Gibson Southern, IN / 2027*Also the #2 ranked uncommitted Corner INF* + From Evansville Preseason ID 2025: There are big gamer tendencies here from the compact, strong, 5-foot-9, 185 pounder, and he has shown them in abundance to this point in his HS career. His best tool is his arm, and he showed it off across the diamond (up to 88) and from the crouch (up to 81) with pops into the 1.9s. His hit tool is also a well-above average tool - he turns a tight, upward barrel that he has feel to manipulate. His exits reached 93-plus, and his bat speed is above average for the class as well. His stats this spring will be followed closely (ended 2025 slashing .371/.422/.529 + 11% K rate) and his best profile may be behind the dish with the frame and toolset considered. He has solid actions on the dirt and plays SS at the HS level, though the average foot speed (7.21) he holds likely pushes him to 3B if he stays on the dirt. |

Gavin Denton C / RHP / Western High School, IN / 2027+ From Indy Preseason ID 2025: Denton, a strong, 5-foot-11, 200 pounder, offers a fast arm and an up-tempo, athletic delivery where he creates quality hip-to-shoulder separation. His fastball flashes carry at times, playing at 84-85 mph, and he'll drop down to a low 3/4 slot for a sinker that plays with 18" of arm-side run at 81-84. The secondaries slot somewhere in the middle of his OTT fastball and low 3/4 sinker slots, with his 75-77 mph changeup creating 18.8" of fade, on average, and his low-to-mid 70s slider showing some sharpness spinning in the 22-2300s. There is upside to Denton as a backstop, as well, offering plenty of arm strength with a 79 mph arm from the crouch and pops from 2.08 to 2.18. He showed average hands receiving, playing light on his feet from the crouch in pens. Offensively, there is present strength evident in an exit reaching 98 mph. There is some length to the path, but the barrel worked on-plane and allowed him to work from gap-to-gap. |
Nolan Butcher C / Leo Junior/Senior High School, IN / 2027+ From Fall State Games 2025: Butcher made a big impression in workouts while showing off impressive jumps in the toolset. Listed at 5-foot-8, 155-pounds, his 98+ mph impact in batting practice well-surpassed expectations before he showed off some of the best catch-and-throw abilities amongst uncommitted '27s in the state. He can flat out receive, with a high motor shown to pair with a commanding presence, and the glove-to-hand in the transfer led to pops as low as 1.89. A 6.9 runner - Butcher then took to gameplay to show off his hit-ability and defensive prowess. He showed no issue catching up to upper-80s velocities with a pair of extra-base hits, and also nabbed a couple of would-be base stealers during the gameplay portion while blocking up several errant pitches throughout the day. |
Brayden Walls C / Lake Central, IN / 2027+ From Fall State Games 2025: LHH catcher with raw tools and a profile that excites. 6-foot-1, 170-pounder with room for strengh. Uses a big barrel tip with an aggressive uncoil that led to pull side impact and exits at a rounded 99 mph. Showed some adjustability in-game with a couple off-time hits and a backside double into the LF corner. Good athleticism for the profile, turned in a 7.14 60. Sure-handed receiver with above average arm strength from the crouch, reaching 78 mph. |
Cal Lemmons C / Morgan Township Middle/High School, IN / 2027+ From Indiana Spring Scout Blog (4/25/25): Skinnier frame that still produced some pop from the left side, pair of barrels including a go-ahead XBH to LCF, short stroke with bat speed producing some loud contact. Controlled the game well from behind the plate and showed quality block and recover ability, softer arm on the mound made controlling the run game difficult against a creative offense. *Earned 1st Team 1A All-State honors as a sophomore after posting a .430/.510/.837 slash that included, 7 2B, 8 3B, and 4 HR. |
Dean McGaughey C / Southmont Sr High School, IN / 2027+ From Fall State Games 2025: Athletic backstop with several above average abilities. 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame has at least 20 pounds to pack onto, already athletic with sub-7 run time. Hits from a lower handset with the barrel presented on-plane, impacted it for 96+ exits in batting practice on the top end. Versatile defender with a chance to be a starting catcher at the next level, receives well with solid average throwing ability (77 mph from crouch), also plays 3B at solid average clip. |
Caden Hackett C / Chesterton Senior High School, IN / 2027+ From Great Lakes Preseason ID 2025: Hackett is a backstop we've seen a good amount of after getting everyday time for sectional champions Chesterton as a freshman. The athleticism has trended nicely, as he turned in a 7.04 60-yard dash at this event with a more-athletic looking 6-foot, 180 lb frame. Offensively, the swing works with a faster pace and some rigidness to a high hand load. He strides closed and hits behind a firm front leg with an intentful swing. The swing plane works steep and direct, aimed to backspin balls at the front of the hitting zone. There is above average barrel strength with a peak exit at 97-plus. As a defender, Hackett showed average receiving skills with a 76 mph arm from the crouch and an above average transfer to pair. |
Hayden Kidd C / Greenfield-Central High School, IN / 2027+ From Fall State Games 2025: Sturdy-strong backstop with run-producers' upside at the next level. 6-foot-2, 215-pound with strength translating to a heavy barrel that produced peak exits up to 98.9 mph. Works behind the ball well with tight hand path and controlled forward move, showed in-game hit-ability on several occasions in 2025. Is a bit limited laterally, however, there is easy above average arm strength in the tank, into the low-80s from the crouch with low-2 pops consistently. |
Alex Shepherd C / Hamilton Southeastern HS, IN / 2027+ From Indy Titans Scout Day 2025: Shepherd showed as one of the top all-around talents at the event, posting average to better tools in all facets. Built with twitch in a compact, athletic, 5-foot-9, 170-pound frame, Shepherd burned an event-best 6.88 60 to begin the day. The feet are well above-average for the profile and age, as is the defensive abilities he showed off. Shepherd reached 82 mph from the crouch, with all pops registering in the sub-2 range. His batting practice was taken in a mature fashion, staying on a line with a short stroke producing exits that peaked over 90 mph. The feet couple with well above average catch & throw, with enough to the bat to make him a strong follow in the class. |
