SoCal Uncommitted Games: Pitcher Analysis

On Sunday, October 12th, the Prep Baseball California staff traveled to Cypress College in Cypress, CA for the SoCal Uncommitted Games. This event was host to over 40 prospects from California, and gave our staff a personal look at everyone in attendance.

Today, we are taking a look at all of the pitchers from the day with their scouting reports and a top-5 event ranking, below.

TOP PITCHING PROSPECTS

1. Zander Friedman, de Toledo (CA), 2027
Positional Profile: RHP/RHP Shows mound presence with projectable velocity.
Body: 6-2, 197-pounds. Projectable frame with a long lower half and good proportions throughout.
Delivery: Glove held at chest level. Uses a high leg lift to chest height, driving downhill with a clean landing. Smooth, repeatable tempo.
Arm Action: RH. High three-quarter slot with a full arm circle motion. Hides the ball well on back swing with slight closed turn.
FB: T88, 83-87 mph. Shows downhill angle with arm-side run. Commands all quadrants of the zone and generates late life to induce weak contact. T2309, 2052 average rpm.
SL: 71-74 mph. Sharp, late-breaking action. Shows good depth and consistent control across the zone. T2143, 2023 average rpm.
CH: 71-71 mph. Late fading action, deceptive spin creates weak contact opportunities. T1413, 1413 average rpm.
