TEAM OUTLOOK

The Loyola Cubs enter the 2026 season with optimism and momentum under head coach Keith Ramsey, returning a group built on athleticism, defense, and quality depth. After finishing 16-12 in 2025, the Cubs bring back five position-player starters and eight pitchers, giving this roster stability on both sides of the ball. Their identity remains rooted in playing clean baseball, defending at a high level, and competing with energy throughout the lineup.

Behind the plate, C Luca Marucci (2026) returns as one of the top uncommitted prospects in the program and a player Ramsey calls “one of the best leaders I’ve ever coached.” Marucci brings power at the plate and next-level ability behind it, and he’ll anchor a returning core that also features 1B Nate Avalos (2027), RHP Jack Hortiz (2027), and LHP Che Thomas Coleman (2027). That group sets the tone for a pitching staff with experience and a lineup capable of producing quality at-bats throughout the order.

The Cubs will also welcome a strong wave of newcomers, headlined by INF Alejandro Villegas (2028), RHP/OF Caden Brackett (2028), INF Brock Possemato (2028), and SS Brody Brooks (2029). Younger arms such as LHP Sheriff Hall (2029) and INF/RHP Anthony Adame (2029) add future impact, while C Lucas Keldorf (2029) and INF/RHP Macin Garciaparra (2029) bolster the long-term depth chart. Loyola also features a talented group of college-bound seniors in USC commit Jack Murray, Tufts commit Bobby Rapp, NYU commit Luke Connon, and Claremont-McKenna commit Jimmy Levy, giving the program both experience and leadership as it takes another step forward in 2026.

Quote from the Coach

“Extremely excited about this group. We have a great mix of seniors who have taken on the task of leadership with underclassmen that are ready to compete in the mission league. The team shows great athleticism defensively and we work to build on a solid season from 2025.”
