2026 High School Team Previews: Archbishop Mitty Monarchs

The 2026 California high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across California.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in their respective CIF Section Championship Game, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview these individual programs across California. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Archbishop Mitty enters 2026 as a group looking to improve upon their 2025 season. Head Coach Brian Yocke returns five starters from a 13–16 squad, along with one pitcher.

The group of returning players is highlighted by the senior class, bringing depth and experience to the team. RHP Justin Humbert (2026), INF Felix Chang (2026), OF Tyler Manago (2026), INF Austin Mak (2026), and UTIL Andre Lopez (2026) anchor the core. A versatile mix of juniors in C Ethan Chase (2027), INF Kelen Johnson (2027), INF Elijah Kroenung (2027), and UTIL Noah Fishman (2027) allow for flexibility throughout their lineup and defense.

This group will feature a wave of underclassmen in UTIL Michael Park (2028), UTIL Sona Takahashi (2028), INF Michael Archer (2028), and INF Wyatt Johnson (2028). With RHP/UTIL Derek Allen (SDSU) headlining the committed group, the Monarchs carry both leadership and upside into the new season. If the roster's young arms mature quickly, the Monarchs have every chance to evolve from a developing team into one capable of winning plenty of games this spring..
