Mississippi Top Prospect Underclass Showcase: Catcher Reports

STARKVILLE, MS — The Mississippi Top Prospect Underclass Showcase was held on Saturday, October 11th at Mississippi State University that featured top talent from the 2028-2029 classes. Players went through a pro-style workout with TrackMan, while pitchers threw in a bullpen setting and were able to get data and metrics on our TrackMan unit.
Some prospects built on past showings, while others made strong first impressions.

Salvatore Benkovics, Caledonia High School (MS), 2028
Positional Profile: C/2B
Body: 5-8, 136.9 pounds. Medium frame, athletic and leaner.
Hit: RHH. Narrow, taller and slightly open set up. Toe tap trigger, developing strength at the plate. Worked to the middle parts of the field. 58.6 mph bat speed with 9g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 82 mph max exit velocity (74 avg.); 217-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. C - 76.00 mph. INF - 79.00 mph. OF - mph. Shorter, quick arm behind the plate.
Defense: 1.94-2.06 pop time range; Blocks and defends well, clean on transfers.

Miles Curlee, Tupelo (MS), 2029
Positional Profile: C/OF
Body: 5-9, 152.6 pounds. Smaller frame, leaner and athletic.
Hit: RHH. Balanced stance, even. Higher handset. Stayed up the middle, controlled load with short stride. 58.8 mph bat speed with 15g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 81 mph max exit velocity (73.7 avg.); 298-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. C - 70.00 mph. Short arm.
Defense: 2.15-2.25 pop time range; Solid actions on transfers, blocked and received well.
Athletic Testing: 7.56 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Walsh Driskell, Oxford High School (MS), 2028
Positional Profile: C/RHP
Body: 5-8, 142 pounds. Athletic and lean, high waisted. More room for added size.
Hit: RHH. Even set up in the stance with a higher handset. Small leg lift, middle of the field BP round. Developing power. 60.7 mph bat speed with 10g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 85 mph max exit velocity (76.6 avg.); 290-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. C - 72.00 mph. Short arm, quick release.
Defense: 2.00-2.12 pop time range; Clean on transfers, blocked well, good actions when receiving.

Kaysen Wiggins, Lewisburg (MS), 2029
