Nevada Class of 2028: Rankings Update

Brett Harrison
West Coast Supervisor

As Fall comes to a close and the High School season approaches, we’re excited to release our update for the Class of 2028 Nevada Player Rankings. The list now features 50 of the state’s top prospects, reflecting the impact of standout performances throughout the spring and summer months. From strong showings in high school competition to dominant outings at summer Prep Baseball events, players have continued to refine their skills and strengthen their résumés. This latest update not only highlights those making significant strides but also sets the stage for the upcoming fall circuit as the prestigous Future Games looms next summer for these sophomores.

As always, our evaluation process is fluid and ongoing, built on multiple viewings and discussions to get the most accurate feel for each player’s abilities. It’s worth noting that while some players show rapid improvement, this doesn’t suggest that others have regressed—player development is simply a journey with peaks and valleys. As the season unfolds, new names will continue to surface, expanding the universe of top prospects in Nevada. In addition to our player evaluations, our scouts—both in-state and nationally—have been in constant dialogue, comparing notes and making adjustments based on the latest insights to ensure the rankings are as up-to-date and accurate as possible.

THE TOP-10 IN THE CLASS OF 2028 ⭐

1. Terrell Otis 3B / C / Centennial, NV / 2028

The new #1 in Nevada’s 2028 Class, Otis comes off a massive freshman campaign that lead right into a successful Summer. Hitting just under .400 as an early impact freshman, the GBG Vegas / Centennial product has only seen his game continue to trend, especially at the plate where his added size and strength come into play as he showed off his present power at the GBG Vegas Scout Day just a few weeks ago.

2. Noah Knudson SS / OF / Palo Verde, NV / 2028

Knudson has continued to prove himself as not only one of the top players in Nevada’s 2028 Class, but among the top players in the country, which will be evident by the National Rankings rolling out tomorrow. At a Prep Baseball Verified 6’4/172, the USA Prime National product has shown off his advanced actions on both sides of the ball with much more expected to come as he adds size to his long, lean frame.

3. Austin Rodriguez RHP / 2B / Liberty, NV / 2028

The sophomore comes off another successful summer campaign, following is breakout freshman season that saw him hit .381 for the Patriots, becoming a staple in the heart of the order in the second half of the season. With the two-way player now more valuable than ever, this is a player who could fit that mold beyond the high school level as a potential two-way guy. You can expect see his game continue to trend over the next few years.

4. Derek Wenzel RHP / OF / Basic Academy, NV / 2028

Another two-way that comes off an impressive Summer campaign with 5-Star National, Wenzel has continued to see his game trend over the past 12 months. On the mound we are seeing steady velocity increases, while he also prove his ability to drive the ball to the big part of the yard on the offensive side of the ball. You can expect Wenzel to have a big sophomore season for Basic, who is looking to repeat in 2026.

5. Bryson Lee OF / SS / Basic, NV / 2028

The youngest of the Lee brothers, Bryson put together one of the top overall performances at the inaugural Super Sophomore Games at the University of Oregon. After an impressive BP Session during the Day 1 Workout, the Basic Academy product racked up multiple extra base hits over the weekend, showing off his present feel for the barrel to the big part of the yard. This is another player that we expect to have his breakout High School season in 2026 with much more to come over the next few years.

6. Connor McDonald RHP / Palo Verde High School, NV / 2028

One of the biggest impressions made on the National staff during the Super Sophomore Games was from Game 1 Starter, Connor McDonald. Commanding the zone with each of his three pitches that saw his fastball continuing out progress as he struck out 6 batters over his three innings pitched. At 6’1, 155 lbs., their is a lot to like with McDonald as he projects to continue seeing his fastball, and overall mix, trend and mirror his physical strength gains.

7. Joshua Teal OF / LHP / Arbor View HS, NV / 2028

The physical two-way adds another high value player to Nevada’s 2028 Class with present pull side power that we expect to only continue progressing over the next few years with added strength gains to his Prep Baseball Verified 6’2 frame. The number he posted at the Las Vegas Top Prospect Games, followed by another successful Summer campaign has Arbor View / Wow Factor primed for a huge sophomore season.

8. Cooper Offermann C / OF / Faith Lutheran High School, NV / 2028

The two-sport standout is now the rare type with players almost exclusively dedicating themselves to a single sport as they enter high school. Offerman is that rare type that can do both and now with the football season wrapped up, we expect him to shift the focus to the diamond where he is projected to make an impact his year behind the plate for the Crusaders.

9. Oliver Schoppmann SS / RHP / Shadow Ridge, NV / 2028

One of the Risers in this rendition of the Rankings Update, Schoppmann is another player who has continued to see his game consistently trend over the past year and it was on full display at the GBG Vegas. With noticeable strength added to his compact frame, the Shadow Ridge product put together one of the top overall performances as he flashes his power potential to the pull side along with an 88 mph Infield Velocity.

10. Ty Kincaid LHP / OF / Palo Verde, NV / 2028

The 6-foot-3 Top Tier product has continued to impress each time out with us at the Las Vegas Top Prospect Games in May, then at the inaugural Super Sophomore Games and finally at the Top Tier Scout Day where his velocity ticked up again. The projectability with his long, lean frame along with his present feel for his secondary mix makes this a player that we expect to make serious jumps over the next few months and makes an early impact for Palo Verde this coming Spring.
