2027 TOP-10 UNCOMMITTED: Middle Infielders

Carter Hadnot SS / SS / Aquinas, CA / 2027 |
|
Antonio Cuevas SS / RHP / Elk Grove, CA / 2027From 3/24/25: “Cuevas might be the most toolsy player when he steps on the field, he’s got a lot of physical attributes and a very high motor when he plays. Though he is still only a sophomore, he is still trying to prove that he can make a name for himself after already having a year of varsity baseball under his belt. Watching him move around all game was exciting, the one that was the most impressive was how fast he gets out of the box on his hits. Cuevas went 2-4 on the day with one of those hits being smoked to the left fielder to bring in a run. There is some swing and miss in the swing, Cuevas takes hacks at the plate, doesn’t get cheated much. But it’s going to be his decision to look for more balls in the zone, because once he hits it, the ball is hit hard. I’ve yet to see Cuevas hop on the mound this year, the arm is strong in the OF and the speed will play at the next level.” |

Colton Hadfield SS / RHP / Valley Christian Schools, CA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 55 / POS: 15
From 7/24/25: “Hadfield showcased as a projectable power bat during his turn at the plate, delivering in a personal best 95.6 MPH max exit velocity while averaging 90.7 MPH off the barrel. He drove the ball with authority with a max distance of 351 feet and had a hard hit rate of 67%. Swinging with an uphill path, Hadfield projects as a power potential bat with more fill coming to the frame. He also ranked among the leaders in hand speed, peaking at 25.9 MPH with an average of 24.0.Hadfield is a real shortstop and can play all over the infield, he’s got a very strong arm with a max velocity of 91 mph across the infield, mix that with a solid first step and smooth hands. Hadfield does a great job of attacking the baseball with a quick transfer. Big fan of the upside from Hadfield, he’s only going to get better. The glove presentation is plus, and uses the one-hand very efficiently on balls in the hole.” |

Mason Park SS / 2B / Fullerton Union High, CA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 74 / POS: 19
From 6/4/25: “Park's profile continues to trend up after a strong showing during the SoCal Top Prospect Underclass in fall that carried into a strong spring on varsity at Fullerton Union and now with another strong performance at the OC Summer ID. The 5'9 167.3 lbs Park showed intriguing tools across the board from his 135.5 (RH Grip) and 149.6 (LH Grip) hand strength testing into a 7.22 60 yard dash with interesting actions on the INF during the defensive work. Park has clean footwork, soft hands while demonstrating present arm strength (86 MPH INF arm velo) showing carry and accuracy on his throws from all angles. During his batting practice Park showed his consistent feel for hard contact topping the event with an average exit velocity at 91.6 MPH with increasing impact in his profile with a peak exit velocity at 96.6 while reaching 360' max distance (slugged several HRs to straightaway LF during two rounds). His underlying batted ball data was strong across the board from a 62% hard hit rate, 75% sweet spot rate and 75% fly ball/line drive rate over two rounds of batting practice. Park is a strong follow in the 2027 class who flashes SS long term potential to go with up the middle defensive profile.” |

Mason Hackler SS / RHP / Turlock High, CA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 77 / POS: 20
From 6/1/25: “Going into the day, there were a good amount of kids who I’ve yet to get eyes on during the high school season. Hackler was one of those kids and I’m glad I got to finally watch him perform. He’s got some good size, a lean, wiry build but has a lot of time to fill out. Hackler stands at 6’1 180 lbs who can play all over the infield. The actions are there and the speed will get even better as Hackler posted a 6.99 60 YD dash time. His top speed was 19.6 mph and had a vertical jump of 22.4 inches. There is a bunch of potential in the athleticism for Hackler to turn into an elite prospect. During the infield portion of the workout, Hackler was one of the kids who stood out as far as defensive actions. The arm has to improve if Hackler wants to stay on the left side of the infield. Hackler had one of the best left handed bats at the tryout as he led the day with the farthest ball hit at 403 ft, with a max exit velocity of 103 mph, average EV of 88.7 mph. The kid has got some real juice to the middle of the field as well as pull side. The ball just sounds a little different when it comes off of his bat, and with some room to grow and get stronger, Hackler is going to be a dominant force in any lineup he steps in. Hackler also pitches and with his frame there is a lot of potential on the mound too. Hackler’s fastball topped out at 84 mph with an avg fastball velocity of 80.4 mph. There’s a CB/SL mix with the curveball being more of an out pitch for him, 15.7 inches of total movement on the breaking ball. Hackler had a max IVB of 21.8 inches which is very promising for his future if he continues to pitch. The Central Valley continues to bring a plethora of great talent when showing up to NorCal.” |

Liam Bantau SS / PGHS, CA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 81 / POS: 21
From 5/28/25: “Bantau made the most of getting the eyes of both Hank LoForte and Shooter Hunt on him during the spring high school season. Bantau saw consistent playing time during his Soph. campaign with flashes of his upside potential including driving in 10 runs while scoring 16 runs with 19 total hits on the season while showing the type of defensive actions which will stick at SS long term. The tools for Bantau are strong and with continued polish to his in game performance as he matures we may see Bantau make a move inside the Top 50 as he enters knocking on the door in the number 53 spot.” |

Jace Wooley 2B / SS / Cardinal Newman, CA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 84 / POS: 2
From 6/1/25: “A 2027 INF/OF from Cardinal Newman, turned heads at the Prep Baseball Future Games Tryout in NorCal this past weekend. Standing at 5-foot-8 and weighing 185 pounds, his sturdy, athletic build delivers explosive strength with potential for further growth. Across the infield, Wooley fired throws at 89 mph, showcasing a lively arm, quick transfers, and polished footwork suited for shortstop or second base. In the outfield, he unleashed a 92 mph throw, combining accuracy with the ability to cover expansive ground through agile, purposeful strides. His defensive range shone brightly, allowing him to track balls effectively in both infield and outfield roles. At the plate, he recorded a max exit velocity of 97.3 mph (89.7 mph average) and a max batted distance of 351 feet, exhibiting a compact, powerful stroke with consistent gap-to-gap contact. Wooley ran a 7.11 60 YD dash during the running portion of the workout. There is a lot of power potential on Wooley’s bat, I think once he refines his approach he’s going to be a scary hitter. Wooley has a big summer coming ahead and will look to fill in on the field anyway he can, even talking to him after he might try pitching a couple innings. Wooley talks all over the field communicating with everyone around him, he’s a gamer.” |

Gavin Smith SS / 2B / Ganesha, CA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 86 / POS: 22
|
|
Santino Williams SS / 3B / Archbishop Riordan High School, CA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 97 / POS: 25
From 9/8/25: “An intriguingly built 6'6 200 lbs. RH hitter out of NorCal with the length and athleticism to his operation that tantalizes towards his future potential, Williams first jumped into the rankings mix on the back of a strong high school season at Archbishop Riordan in the Bay area. Now after a strong showing across the summer circuit, including a very good look for Hardesty at the Area Code games where he played a variety of spots defensively and showed bat speed and the feel to hit to be a potential high level RH hitter, brings William into the Top 100.” |
|
Trey Howell-Chase SS / RHP / Rio Americano High, CA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 104 / POS: 26
From 9/8/25: “Howell-Chase is an extremely talented athlete who shows not only impressive athletic ability on the baseball diamond, but also on the soccer pitch and basketball court. His athleticism has taken quickly to the game of baseball where he has flashed an impact defensive profile in CF, especially during his time with Team NorCal at the Future Games. Highly projectable with his profile, defense, and room to add strength to an athletic frame, the next step for Howell-Chase is to tap into his offensive ability. He jumps into the rankings just outside the Top 100, but if he can make the developments to his offensive tool set we should see Howell-Chase move into the Top 100 in the future.” |
