Colton Hadfield, Valley Christian Schools (CA), 2027 Positional Profile: SS/RHP Two-way player, who pairs strong bat to ball skills and bat speed with high spin arsenal on the mound. Smooth defensive actions in the INF. Body: 6-0, 157-pounds. Present athleticism in frame, with room to fill out further. Delivery: Starts with hands resting at chest level before dropping slightly to sync with the front leg. Utilizes a high leg kick with a slight inward hip turn, then employs a drop/drive motion as he strides down the mound with a lengthy, directional stride. Shows decent feel to block with the plant leg, though he occasionally gets caught behind and the upper half can fly open slightly early. Maintains a mostly controlled, repeatable delivery with room to add velo with improved lower half. Arm Action: RH. Delivers from a 3/4 slot with a full, lengthy arm path that creates solid depth in line with the body. Arm action is aggressive, generating present arm speed and firm acceleration through release. Finishes with considerable recoil, adding effort to the delivery. FB: T89, 85-88 mph. High spin, two-seam profile with velocity present. Works well on the edges to both sides. Induces weak contact when located down. Firm offering that can generate whiffs inside to RHH with late break. T2243, 2061 average rpm. CB: 72-75 mph. Late breaking option, with 12-6 profile when thrown to the arm side. Displays 11-5 profile when located away; works off FB plane up in the zone. T2400, 2210 average rpm. CH: 76-78 mph. Heavy arm-side fade that plays well off the FB tunnel. Keeps low in the zone, with swing-and-miss upside. T1598, 1464 average rpm.

Hands rest at upper chest height with a subtle barrel waggle. Initiates the load by sitting into the back leg as the hands work back, striding forward under control with the front leg. Fires hips at foot strike with hands quick to follow, staying tight to the body. Barrel path works direct through the zone with aggressive bat speed, occasionally getting on top but producing frequent hard contact. Flashes pop to the pull side and up the middle with potential for consistent lift and carry. Power: 96 max exit velocity, averaged 90.7 mph. 351' max distance. Arm: RH. INF-91 mph. Full arm path with an aggressive, but controlled action. Works from a low 3/4 release and shows comfort throwing from multiple angles, when needed. Defense: Plays low to the ground with smooth, controlled footwork and a quick first step. Shows active, soft hands that secure the ball cleanly out in front. Displays solid lateral range, backed by raw athleticism that gives him a chance to stick up the middle.

This was another guy who I haven't been able to see until this event, Colton showed out on both sides. I noticed during the defensive workout how quick Colton moves around the infield, and the he follows it up with a cannon for an arm. With the cold conditions Colt still managed to run a 7.11 60 yd dash with a max run speed of 19.2 MPH. Hadfield was driving balls to the gaps and managed to sting a 91 MPH EV and an avg of 87.4 EV. He's got very quick hands as his max hand speed was 23.4 and his avg was 22 MPH. With the 2nd best FB of the event at 89.5 MPH, he had an impressive avg FB Velo of 88.6 MPH. The fact that he;'s only a 27' is the great part. The CB is nasty, avg velo of 73.5 MPH and 2261 spin. CH sits around 78-79 with good movement and the Sinker is a pitch that can be a weapon. Hadfield plays on a very talented Valley Christian team, he will be able to contriubute forsure.
