Emerson, Ga. -

On the second day of the Future Games, Team Northern California took on North Texas. Team NorCal was able to get the bats going late in the game, but still fell short in the end. North Texas yet again threw out a plethora of quality arms at the NorCal offense, a couple of arms stood out enough to make the game competitive. The energy was high and both teams were playing some solid baseball.

Camden Salisbury took the mound in the third inning for Team NorCal after southpaw Cooper Benjamin had started the game. Salisbury is from Sacramento, CA and pitches with some serious attitude. Velocity is not in the toolbox right now for Salisbury but the kid knows how to pitch in the zone and work his secondary over for strikes when it mattered. Salisbury only gave up two hits in his two innings of work, his fastball was working between 80-84 mph, while pitching north/south and east/west. Salisbury had a nasty slider that was consistently thrown for strikes, it had a sharp/late break and produced a lot of swing and miss to the North Texas hitters. Salisbury moved down the mound well, with a quick arm. Salisbury finished the day with two scoreless innings and gave up no runs.

Damien Nolan was the next arm to take over the mound for Team NorCal, Nolan had a dominant first inning and showed flashes of some real stuff on the mound. His fastball was working between 86-89 mph, it came out of the hand firm. Nolan had a windup identical to Bronson Arroyo with the exact same leg kick, his slider and changeup had some swing and miss, along with chase. His second inning wasn’t as smooth as the first, but he still managed to strike out two guys and pitch well enough in the zone.

The seventh inning was handed to lefty Cooper Carleton, the southpaw only threw an inning of relief.  Carleton had three strikeouts, two walks, and a hit by pitch. Carleton started off the game hot with his fastball sitting between 84-86 mph, working the hitters east to west. He had command of the fastball inside to left handed hitters, making them uncomfortable. Carleton had some stressful situations towards the end of his inning, but still managed to work out of the game with some confidence. Carleton also threw a curve which sat between 71-74 mph and a changeup, in which he only flashed to lefties. Carleton is going to be a stud in the next couple years, especially once the strength comes in.
