Today we release a late fall/early winter update to the 2028 class, our fourth and final update of 2025. This update has the class expanding from the Top 75 to Top 100. This is the second expansion in the last two updates, moving from the Top 50 in the summer to now a Top 100.
Today we will focus on players from inside the 51-100 range of our rankings update, including some fall standouts.
2028 Rankings Stories:
Top 50 Rankings Story
+ Alex Baird - RHP - Amelia Co. HS
While we have seen Baird in some short stints at tournaments, this was our first up close look at the right hander. Thin framed 6-foot, short arm swing, and has some funk to the operation. When we saw him at the Fall Uncommitted Games, Baird displayed a good feel for body control and varied his delivery to throw timing off. He did it with multiple pitches and was very effective. While the velo usually sits in the mid 80's, getting up to 86.3, he is effective in the zone and with his younger features and younger age, you have to think there is still some projection here. Tighter shaped breaking balls that maintained arm speed with a tighter velo split to offer some intrigue for what the future holds. With his pitchability and projection, it was a no brainer to get Baird settled into this class.
+ Trevor Almond - RHP/OF - St. Anne's Belfield
Almond is a well put together 6-foot-2, 171-pound sophomore. Lean and proportional and should hold added strength well. Normal effort that builds up some late intent in the delivery. Higher lift, mid-line hand break, and a deeper and longer arm swing. The velo will need to pick up as he continues to mature, but does a solid job of pitching and getting outs at where he currently sits. The breaking ball has a bigger more gradual shape and will also need to firm up as he gets closer to the potential of pitching at the next level. The changeup is a very, very solid pitch, arguably the best of his arsenal at times. Low 70's with advanced feel and quality shape. While we do like the upside on the mound, he has been a fairly steady producer at the plate. Hands set back with a slight wrap, level path that is more direct, and some doubles power. More corner outfield profile on the positional side, while the arm takes to the forefront of his future projection.
+ Josiah Pulling - SS - Homeschool
True class, compact frame, above average runner, hits in game, and works really well around the bag in the middle infield. Those are just a few things to describe the talented central Virginia middle infielder. Upright and narrow in his stance, short window to contact, and the barrel can get some slight uphill tilt when in the lower half of the zone, but does a good job matching and getting on plane in the upper half. The bat is more contact and doubles, while he has a little bit more pop to pull. Arm strength is average, but it is a quick and fairly clean exchange with some accuracy to the bag. The feet work really well, especially around the bag finishing the backside of a double play ball.
