UT Class of 2028: Rankings Update
December 1, 2025

As Fall comes to a close and the High School season approaches, we’re excited to release our update for the Class of 2028 Utah Player Rankings. The list now features 50 of the state’s top prospects, reflecting the impact of standout performances throughout the spring and summer months. From strong showings in High School competition to dominant outings at summer Prep Baseball events, players have continued to refine their skills and strengthen their résumés. This latest update not only highlights those making significant strides, but also sets the stage for the upcoming Spring circuit as the prestigous Future Games looms next summer for these Sophomores.
As always, our evaluation process is fluid and ongoing, built on multiple viewings and discussions to get the most accurate feel for each player’s abilities. It’s worth noting that while some players show rapid improvement, this doesn’t suggest that others have regressed—player development is simply a journey with peaks and valleys. As the season unfolds, new names will continue to surface, expanding the universe of top prospects in Utah. In addition to our player evaluations, our scouts—both in-state and nationally—have been in constant dialogue, comparing notes and making adjustments based on the latest insights to ensure the rankings are as up-to-date and accurate as possible.

⭐2028 RANKINGS: TOP 30⭐
Jeremiah Hall SS / RHP / Maple Mountain, UT / 2028Rankings StateRank: 1 / POS: 1
Jeremiah retains his position at the top of the Class, as well as moving up to a #11 National Ranking. The right hander features an elite set of physical tools, most notably one of the top arms in the Country w/ a FB up to 92 and sitting 88-90 consistently. High floor high ceiling type prospect, and he projects to build on his dominant Freshman Varsity campaign he put together last season.

Austin Brown OF / 1B / Wasatch, UT / 2028Rankings StateRank: 2 / POS: 1
Big time power continues to be the featured tool for the 23rd ranked player in the country. After recently attending a National Power Showcase this Fall and showcasing well, Austin remains a top left handed bat anywhere you look. With his arm strength and 60 time continuing to improve, he profiles to be a future middle of the order type player at a Power 5 program.

Ty Holmstead OF / RHP / American Fork, UT / 2028Rankings StateRank: 3 / POS: 2
We didn’t get a chance to see Ty this Fall as he was lighting up the gridiron for American Fork, but the talent and projectability keep him firmly in the Top 3 of the Class. The mound presence and firm FB sitting in the upper 80s, combined with a plus breaking ball that he attacks hitters with make him a tough at bat already. Super athletic frame and movements, we may get a chance to see his ability as a position player sooner rather than later as well.

Jake Welch SS / 2B / Lehi, UT / 2028Rankings StateRank: 4 / POS: 2
Jake is a quick twitch athlete that has the skills to match, making him one of the top players in the Class and arguably a top defender at his position, regardless of age in Utah. Up to 91 across the diamond and a 6.8 runner, the athletic tools will keep his ceiling high for the rest of his playing career.
Trigg Cloward C / SS / Spanish Fork, UT / 2028Rankings StateRank: 5 / POS: 1
Electric arm talent behind the plate and an agile, athletic frame make Trigg an exciting prospect. He’s been in the lab all offseason and I expect huge growth this upcoming Spring season. After earning the starting Catcher role for the eventual 5A State Champions last year, the future is bright for the Spanish Fork Sophomore.
Cruz Adams 3B / RHP / American Fork, UT / 2028Rankings StateRank: 6 / POS: 1
Cruz continues to mature, and improve his game in every aspect, seemingly on a month to month basis. At our Fall Top Prospects Games last month, he had arguably the best overall weekend of anyone who participated. Setting new bests in EV, 60, INF velo, FB, and more, Cruz has taken the next step and expects to play a huge role for the Cavemen in 2026.
Tavake Wolfgramm C / OF / Pleasant Grove, UT / 2028Rankings StateRank: 7 / POS: 2
Vake did not make it an event this Fall, but that was due to his responsibility as a Varsity running back for PG. It’s not often you have a Catcher with that kind of athleticism, which is what sets Vake apart. When you add in that he is also a left handed hitter with plus tools, the ceiling is very high and this Spring expects to be a breakout one Mr Wolfgramm.
Brooks Pratt SS / Maple Mountain, UT / 2028Rankings StateRank: 8 / POS: 3
Brooks continues to show improvement and physical maturation every time we see him. At our Fall Top Prospects Games last month, he set new personal bests all over the board, and showed up much bigger than he was back at our Preseason All State in February. Standing now at 6’3 180 lbs, while simultaneously improving his athleticism, his next few years will be ones to watch. Exciting prospect with a high IQ and energy when he plays.
| |
Boston Hatch LHP / OF / Riverton, UT / 2028Rankings StateRank: 9 / POS: 1
The top left-hander in the State on the mound, as well as a big time offensive threat in the box, Boston sits firmly in the top 10 and could make a climb earlier rather than later. The frame projects to carry a lot more weight and as he matures physically, watch out. The arm talent is there now and carries himself with maturity and confidence consistently. Coming off an injury to his non-throwing shoulder that derailed his Freshman campaign, keep your eye on Boston to have a breakout season in 2026.
Eric Phelps RHP / SS / Enterprise High, UT / 2028Rankings StateRank: 10 / POS: 1
After stamping his mark onto the scene as a potential top player for the Class at our Summer Top Prospects Games last July, Eric continued to dominate in-game throughout the Fall. Big, strong athlete with a heavy FB up to 90 and regularly upper 80s, while also featuring a wipeout SL. His 2026 will be one of our most anticipated seasons to follow on the board.
