Then and Now

We last saw Willis back in January at Preaseason All-State where he lived in the low 80's (T83MPH) with good feel for a 3-pitch mix. Fast forward to the Fall and the RHP would close out his year with a really good showing in gameplay at the Fall Campus Tour at University of Georgia. Physical 6-foot-1, 199-pound frame with present arm speed and moves really well down the mound. Attacks in-the-zone with feel to land both pitches for swing-and-miss. Fastball showed easy life out of the hand and created plenty of in-zone swing-and-miss at 84-87 (T88MPH). Slider tunnels effectively off the fastball with sharp bite at 72-74mph. Willis has made significant strides this calendar year and looks poised for a breakout sophomore campaign with Pierce County.

Delivery: Easy mechanics with emphasis on getting in back leg.
Arm Action: RH. 3/4 Release. Assertive arm action and goes after hitters with his fastball. Occasionally worked in a true low-70s sweeper that gave right-handers fits.
FB: T88, 84-87 mph. Ride traits; 86-87 MPH with life. Good feel locating up in the zone. T2205, 2063 average rpm.
SL: 72-74 mph. T2538, 2379 average rpm.

Delivery: Good pace with a higher quick leg kick.
Arm Action: RH. Longer over the top action across body.

Hit: RHH. Slightly open stance, hands held higher at shoulder height. Violent swing, keeps weight back and is able to spray the ball to all fields with consistent carry. 70.4 mph bat speed with 13 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 81.6 mph. 317' max distance.
Arm: RH. OF-88 mph.
ATH: 1.80 and 4.24 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 16.60 max vertical.

Delivery: Gets turned, showing numbers to the catcher, as he sinks into the back leg. Rotates out well, athletic actions.
Arm Action: RH. High 3/4 slot. Smaller arm path, clean arm.
FB: T79, 74-78 mph. Lots of arm side run. Good shape. T2034, 1909 average rpm.
