Preseason Top-100 JUCO Prospects

JUCO Wire Staff

The 2025 JUCO Fall season has come to a close with prospects emerging around the country. The class is particularly deep once again in Texas as five of our top ten prospects come from the Lone Star state.

At the top is right-hander Holden Hering who originally committed to Texas Tech out of high school, but opted for the juco route. He's now at Weatherford (TX). Large-framed with a physical build at 6-foot-5, 225 pounds, the 18-year old true freshman has a starter type delivery with good direction, arm action and extension out front. He's a strike-thrower with good ride to his low-90s fastball. He'll also mix an upper-70s curve and low-80s changeup into the zone. An Arkansas recruit, Hering profiles as a starter in the SEC and into professional baseball.

No. 2 pitches from the other side, but he's just as talented. Left-hander Carson Bailey pitched 53 innings as a true freshman this past spring at Baylor, striking out 56. He's since traveled a few miles northwest of Waco to McLennan. He's also large-framed and strong-bodied at 6-foot-3, 205 pounds. His delivery is clean and on-line. There's also moderate effort with very good arm speed on a heater that dials up to 97. His 83-85 mph slider is his main secondary with a developing firm changeup in the upper-80s.

Heading further to the northwest, all the way to Salt Lake City CC, Utah prep Easton Davies continues to develop after striking out seven in six innings during the Bru Cru's 2025 Natty run in Grand Junction. He stands strong and athletic at 6-foot-2, 210 pounds and shows a compact delivery with a quick arm, a fastball up to 97 and a mid-80s slider. He has committed to Oklahoma.

Another Sooners' recruit ranks No. 4. Right-hander Hudson Melaerts (Blinn CC, TX) oozes projection with a medium build on a 6-foot-5, 205-pound frame. He works down the hill with clean arm action into excellent extension out front. His fastball sits 94-95 and will touch 97. Melaerts struck out 50 in 33 innings last season for the Buccaneers.

Rounding out the top five is Baltimore's unsigned 19th round pick from this past summer. Shortstop Jimmy Anderson is another top talent produced by Heartland CC (IL). Following in the footsteps of former Hawk and rising Chicago White Sox prospect Sam Antonacci, the right-handed hitting Anderson has very good wrist/forearm strength and the ball jumps off his bat for power to all fields. He's also a plus runner with above average arm strength and enough range to stick at shortstop over the long-term. Last season he batted .439 with 18 doubles, 10 home runs and 63 RBIs. He is committed to Kentucky.
