December 3, 2025
Yesterday, we released our updated state rankings update, for the 2028 class, now that the fall season has come to an end. Throughout the fall, our staff traveled across the state, to see as many prospects and teams as possible, and we were able to see more prospects than we've ever seen before. Our state rankings for the 2028 class expanded to 150 players in total for this update, and there were plenty of movers and shakers throughout the list. Today, we take a look at a few guys that made a move up in this rankings update.

STATE RANKINGS RISERS (2028 CLASS)
Harrison Serio LHP / OF / Jesuit, LA / 2028Rankings StateRank: 15 / POS: 3
6-foot-1, 170-pound athletic, high-waisted frame with plenty of physical projection still ahead. Serio has continued to trend upward with every look, earning a significant jump in this update as he climbs all the way to No. 15 in the class. The left-handed hitter starts from an upright stance and employs a controlled leg-kick load before delivering a flat, efficient path to contact with length through extension. He shows advanced feel for the barrel, something that was on full display at our annual State Games in September, where he strung together multiple high-quality at-bats. Serio’s combination of projection, offensive consistency, and steady year-over-year development makes him one of the more intriguing risers in Louisiana’s 2028 class.

Carter Thibodeaux C / Westminster Christian-Lafayette , LA / 2028Rankings StateRank: 22 / POS: 3
5-foot-9, 175-pound compact frame with a strong, well-developed lower half. Thibodeaux was another clear winner from our annual State Games this fall, vaulting eighteen spots to No. 22 overall in the class. At the plate, he shows natural rhythm and employs loose, athletic wrists to whip the barrel through the zone with a true gap-to-gap approach. The hit tool translated in gameplay as well, as he collected knocks on both days of the event. Behind the dish, Thibodeaux turned in pop times of 2.07–2.28 and showcased his in-game impact by throwing out a would-be basestealer at second. With his balanced offensive profile and defensive competitiveness, he continues to trend upward among Louisiana’s 2028 backstops.

Brody Fountain RHP / 3B / Mandeville, LA / 2028Rankings StateRank: 30 / POS: 9
Strong and sturdy 5-foot-11, 180-pound frame. The Mandeville product delivered one of the top bullpen showings at our Baton Rouge Fall ID last month and climbs to No. 30 overall in this update. Working from the third-base side of the rubber, Fountain features a loose, efficient arm swing and repeats his operation well. His 85–86 mph fastball played up considerably thanks to elite extension (6’10”) and an average induced vertical break of 19.1 inches per TrackMan, giving it true carry through the zone. He complemented the heater with developing feel for an 11–5 shaped curveball and a firmer 80–81 mph changeup that showed promise. With his present pitch metrics, repeatability, and sturdy build, Fountain is trending as one of the more intriguing right-handed arms in Louisiana’s 2028 class.

Ardan Calegan SS / RHP / Mandeville, LA / 2028Rankings StateRank: 34 / POS: 6
Lean and wiry at 5-foot-9, 150 pounds, Calegan packs surprising thump into a smaller frame and continues to show steady year-over-year improvement. At this fall’s State Games, he turned in a 6.90 laser 60 — a sizable jump from his 7.19 in August — underscoring his trending athleticism. At the plate, he doesn’t get cheated and hunts damage. Calegan utilizes a controlled, modified leg kick before firing quick hands (20.7 mph average hand speed via Blast Motion) through a direct path to contact. The result was hard line-drive contact to all fields, including exit velocities up to 93.1 mph — a four-mph jump from his previous best. Defensively, he brings value with his versatility, showing the ability to handle multiple positions at a steady, reliable level. With his athletic gains, advancing hit tool, and multi-positional profile, Calegan continues to raise his stock in Louisiana’s 2028 class.

Brody Trahan SS / C / Sulphur, LA / 2028Rankings StateRank: 38 / POS: 7
5-foot-10, 155-pound lean and wiry frame with significant strength gains still ahead as he continues to mature. Trahan emerged as one of the big winners from our fall circuit, highlighted by his standout performance at the Southwest Louisiana Fall ID in October. A switch-hitter, he showed a consistent feel for the barrel from both sides of the plate, working with an easy, fluid path and a true gap-to-gap approach. He impacted the baseball well, posting exit velocities up to 91.2 mph. Behind the dish, the Sulphur product was equally impressive. He displayed advanced receiving skills for his age, handled velocity with ease, and showed above-average blocking ability. His athleticism also stands out — evidenced by a 6.92 laser-timed 60 — giving him a well-rounded, highly projectable profile. Trahan will be a close follow for us this spring as he continues to trend upward in Louisiana’s 2028 class.
