Rising Stars on the Radar: 2028 RHP/3B Mason Cevette (Cedar Crest)

Nathan Goranson
Northeast Scout

Cevette is the Keystone State’s second overall player in the current rankings for the 2028 class, he is ranked 30th overall and the 6th ranked right-handed pitcher in the entire nation. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound two-way prospect is also a multi-sport athlete that has recently completed another football season. Off the mound and at the plate, Cevette is known for his high-level production.

On the mound, Cevette is an explosive mover that throws with a competitive intent each and every pitch. His pitch arsenal consists of a fastball that peaks at 90 mph and a curveball that he throws 74-76 mph. Typically, his fastball is thrown 86-89 mph with a spin rate over 2,400 rpm and an induced vertical break of 23.4 inches. His fastball induces swings-and-misses at the top of the zone due to his high-level IVB, and it also induces called strikes at the knees as his fastball holds the plane at the bottom of the zone. This summer at the East Coast Super Sophomore Games, Cevette flashed the ability to land his curveball for strikes early in the count and make hitters chase the curveball in the dirt later in the count.

Offensively, he swings the bat with the same intensity he throws the baseball with. Cevette has produced some eye-popping rounds of BP over the last calendar year. His max exit velocity is an incredible 104.6 mph, his average exit velocity is 97.7 mph, and his max distance is 382 feet. All the offensive metrics he has produced are in the upper percentile of not only his grad class but all grad classes.

Overall, Cevette is an explosive athlete that has produced some high-octane performances over the last 12 months. His talent is easy to see but his work ethic is what separates him from the rest of the pack. Keep an eye on this nationally ranked prospect from Lebanon, Pennsylvania.
