Then and Now: 2028 SS/RHP Gavin Gebhardt

Then and Now
We first got eyes on Gebhardt in a showcase setting earlier this year at Preseason All-State: Underclass back in January. Fast forward to the Summer where we saw him at Top Prospect Games in June and he finished his 2025 cicuit with us at Southeast Super Sophomore Games in August, where his metrics were up across the board. Max EV improved from 88.1mph in January to 94.0mph in June. Average exit velocity jumped up from 76.1mph in January to 81.1mph in June. Max Distance increased 30ft from 278ft in January to 308ft in August. 60 time increased from 6.80 in June to 6.68 in August. Added tons of arm strength as his INF velo increased from 78mph in January to 88mph in August. On the mound, fastball max increased from 82.6 in January to 88.4 in June to 89.3 in August. Its a robust profile for Gebhardt with plenty more to project and he finds himself cemented in the top 10 of the '28 rankings as we head into 2026.

Ran the FB up to 86, sat in the 85 to 81 range showing an over the top arm slot with a quick release, 20”+ IVB, showing 2400 rpm with slight arm-side run and sink. Flashed the CV in the the low 70’s with gradual feel and ability to manipulate, 12/6, sharp breaker. A confident arm with high tempo. Collected six strikeouts through three innings. Hit the ball well on Monday morning of bracket play, showing a middle-pull approach with an aggressive swing. Syncs up nicely and shows an accurate feel for the barrel. A name to know in this 2028 class.
