This summer, the best uncommitted Class of 2027 prospects will head to LakePoint Sports in Emerson, GA for the premier Prep Baseball Report Future Games. For the first time ever, the state of California will be bringing two teams: Team NorCal and Team SoCal. For the next three weeks leading up to the event we will be previewing each player that will be putting their talents on display in front of a plethora of college coaches from across the entire country.

Standing 6-foot-1, Cole Munyon is a right-handed shortstop from Newbury Park High. The fifth ranked shortstop in all of California is also ranked as the twenty-third best player in the country, skyrocketing the ranks after an impressive sophomore campaign for Newbury Park.

In his first year playing shortstop, Munyon hit to the tune of a .352 average and a 1.022 OPS. Munyon also showed off his power throughout the season, tallying nine extra base hits, three of which were home runs.

In the field, Munyon flashed the glove with a .973 fielding percentage on 73 total chances.

Munyon also impressed on the base paths, swiping eight bags on the year.

One of Munyon’s best games came against Westlake on March 25th. On the day, Munyon went 3-4 with a home run and two runs batted in.

At the Future Games Tryout, all of Munyon’s talents were on display. Munyon ran a 7.00 second 60-yard-dash, had a max exit velocity of 97 MPH off the bat, and played a smooth infield. With his performance, Munyon was ranked as the number one overall prospect to come out of the event.

Munyon’s well rounded set of tools makes him a must watch player when he takes the field in LakePoint. The shortstop’s ability to command the infield, have a strong approach at the plate, and run the bases with ease is a huge asset for Team SoCal.

“At an event [Future Games Tryout: Malibu] full of talented players, Munyon arguably has the most interesting profile. I absolutely love what this kid does in the batter’s box and looks like a potential to stick at SS with his actions, but can play anywhere on dirt. Must follow 2027.”- Steven Hardesty, Associate Director SoCal
