Birmingham Summer ID: Quick Hits

Prep Baseball Alabama Staff

PELHAM, AL - The Birmingham Summer ID was held on Tuesday, July 1st at Pelham High School in Pelham, AL. This event was an open event that consisted of prospects from the 2026-2030 classes. These players went through extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman and Blast Motion, ran the 60-yard dash using VALD Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to throw in simulated bullpens during the workout and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Tuesday.

Continuing our post-event coverage for this event, we take an in-depth look at some of the standout performers from Tuesday's event. Please continue to check back over the next week, as we will release other leaderboards and individual scouting reports on each player present at the event.

+ One of the top left-handed bats in the class, 3B Connor Greb (Spain Park, 2027) continues to elevate his stock as a must-know prospect heading into the back-end of the summer. A 6-foot-1, 190-pounder who has added noticeable, easy-to-see strength to his frame while maintaining above-average athleticism. Balanced left-handed stance with rhythmic load and operation. Frequently barreled the ball to the pull-side during BP flashing gap pop and power. It's a smooth left-handed stroke that shows a quality hit tool and loads of power projection remaining. Recorded multiple low-90 EVs and a top of 98.3 mph. Well-rounded athlete who clocked a 6.79 60-yard dash and flashed the leather at the hot corner.

+ RHP/OF Tripp Morris (Sparkman, 2029) showcased some loud, highly-projectable tools on both sides of the ball during an impressive showing at this event. Listed at 6-foot-2, 160-pounds, the rising freshman has a lean, athletic build with room to add size and strength. The barrel is loose with some present whip through the zone on the swing, showing a current line-drive approach with some pull-side impact and more to come. 7.14-runner, 90 mph OF, 94.6 mph EV. Even more impressive on the mound, where he touched 86.1 mph and flashed a sharp, late-biting SL that spun north of 2300 RPM with swing-and-miss traits.

+ RHP/OF Tristan Blalock (James Clemens, 2029) continues to elevate his stock into the discussion of being one of the top right-handed pitchers in the young rising freshman class. A 6-foot-2, 180-pounder, Blalock possesses an electric arsenal, highlighted by a FB sitting 87-89 mph and touching 89.3 mph during his bullpen. The pitch showcases heavy arm-side sink with a 103 Sink+ score due to a loose, whippy 3/4 arm action. Uses a SL/CB/CH as his secondary offerings with the ability to throw all three for strikes. SL at 74-76 mph is the best of the group currently, spinning T2395 RPM and averaging -17.4 in. of HZM. Showed a 68-69 mph CB, and turns over a power 79-81 mph CH well with quality depth and arm-side action. Massive upside on the mound with some two-way ability.

+ OF Ty Hunter (Hazel Green, 2028) is a two-time Jr. Future Gamer who continues to make significant and noticeable strides to his game. Listed at 5-foot-10, 150-pounds, Hunter showcases a polished hit tool from the left side with easy, athletic actions in the swing. The barrel works on-plane early while showcasing an innate feel for the sweet spot. Mostly level path with ability to change planes. Line-drive contact with more strength showing in all-fields approach. Clocked a 6.90 60-yard dash and posted a top EV of 94.6 mph.

+ INF Mayson Elam (Northridge, 2026) is a quality uncommitted right-handed bat that continues to hit in all settings. A 5-foot-10, 172-pounder, Elam showcases impressive barrel awareness and accuracy in the right-handed swing that delivered consistent firm contact to all-fields during his round of BP. Has a wider stance with a quick, controlled stride and good balance to the operation. Level path through the baseball while routinley finding the barrel with each swing, posting a top EV of 92.3 mph. Also ran a 6.81 60-yard dash and was up to 84 mph across the INF.

+ 3B/RHP Caleb Hawkins (Russellville, 2028) is another former Jr. Future Gamer who has seemed to make massive strides since last summer. Now at 5-foot-11, 168-pounds, the rising sophomore took a loud round of BP while showing athletic, explosive actions in the right-handed swing. Swings the barrel with controlled aggression and good intent to hammer the ball gap-to-gap. Has a controlled stride for timing with weight gradually shifting forward in the load, allowing him to take aggressive cuts and impact the ball at a high level. Posted a top EV of 96.6 mph and clocked a 7.16 60-yard dash.

+ SS Gregory Rauch (Montgomery Catholic, 2028) is another quality bat in the rising sophomore bat who took an impressive round of BP with quality cuts from both sides of the plate as a switch-hitter. A 6-foot-0, 170-pounder, Rauch has smooth, fluid actions in the swing from both the left and the right side, which allows him to repeat the swing well and consistently find the barrel with each swing. The barrel works on a clean, upward path while staying in the zone for a good while to help him spray firm line-drive contact to all fields with future power on the way. Posted a top EV of 90.9 mph and clocked a 6.99 60-yard dash during the workout.

+ RHP Micah Brasher (Hokes Bluff, 2027) showcased a well-rounded four-pitch mix with quality metrics to the FB during his bullpen. A 5-foot-11, 180-pound right-hander, Brasher produces impressive ride to his FB that worked up to 86.1 mph and averaged an impressive 23.6 in. of IVB, allowing it to play best at the top of the zone and work over the top of barrels with a 93 Rise+ score. Mixes in two distinct breaking balls, one being a 76-77 mph SL with tight, horizontal shape and the other being a 12-6 CB at 62-64 mph and is a good change of pace. Also flashed a 63-66 mph CH with fading action. Has the ability to sequence and add/subtract using FB/CB/SL mix.

+ RHP Max Autrey (Auburn, 2026) is another lively arm who showcased a solid four-pitch mix with quality metrics to back them up. A 6-foot-2, 195-pounder, Autrey has a M 3/4 arm slot that helps produce solid arm-side action to his 84-86 mph FB that topped at 86.7 mph in the bullpen. The CB showed as his best pitch in this outing, ranging 73-75 mph with hard, downer bite and a 107 Sweep+ score that led the event. Consistently spins 23-2400 RPM with swing-and-miss traits. Rounded out the arsenal with a 74-75 mph CH with fading action.

+ C Collin Crump (Homewood, 2027) took arguably the loudest round of BP during the event, as he consistently hammered pull-side contact with high exits off the barrel. A 5-foot-11, 178-pounder, Crump takes aggressive swings with the intent of doing damage and hitting from slug, as he led the event in multiple offensive statistical categories, including top EV (100.4 mph) and avg. EV (95.1 mph). Showcases present bat speed with high impact-ability with he squares up the baseball using quality strength at the point of contact.
