North Mississippi Summer ID: Quick Hits

Matt Miller
State Director

BOONEVILLE, MS — The North Mississippi Summer ID was held on Tuesday, July 8th at Northeast Mississippi CC that featured top talent from the 2026-2030 classes. Players went through a pro-style workout with TrackMan, Blast Motion, and VALD Performance tech, while pitchers threw in a bullpen setting and were able to get data and metrics on our TrackMan unit.

Some prospects built on past showings, while others made strong first impressions.

We kick off our post-event coverage with a look at some of the top performers from the event, with more breakdowns and full scouting reports coming soon.

QUICK HITS

Tucker Elliott OF / LHP / Myrtle Attendance Center, MS / 2029

The 5-10, 150 pounder from Myrtle continues to move in a really positive direction. His arm sets him apart at the moment though he swings it well from the left side and has plenty more overall body maturity on the horizon which should result in more pop at the plate. Elliott was up to 85 mph from the outfield on Tuesday and it transfers well to the mound where he really shows a solid feel for pitching. His fastball velocity continues to increase (78-81mph now) and his secondary arsenal is very advanced for his age.

Jase Pee C / RHP / Saltillo, MS / 2026

Pee opened some eyes on Tuesday at Northeast MS CC as one several uncommitted rising seniors in attendance. The 6-1, 170 pound right handed hitter had a solid round using a mostly pull side approach with slight loft, and exit velocities up to 88 mph off the Trackman. He then stepped it up a notch during defensive evaluations with solid pop times sitting steady at around 2.0 and an arm velocity from behind the plate up to 78 mph. On the mound, the Saltillo product showed some upside sitting 84-85 with solid shape to his breaking ball and a developing change up. He’s definitely a player recruiters will want to see as he heads into his senior season.

Brolin Haley 3B / 2B / Lewisburg , MS / 2026

Haley had a strong day both at the plate and in the field on Tuesday. Coming from a family with strong genetics, the rising senior from Lewisburg showed off his athleticism as well with a good batting practice. He used a middle to pull side approach and level bat path while connecting on multiple liners with exit velocities up to 90 mph. On the infield, the 6-2, 175 pounder displayed advanced glove work and a very strong accurate arm with velocities up to 88 mph from across the diamond.

Eli Johnson 1B / LHP / Itawamba Agricultural High School, MS / 2029

This is one arm we will have to keep a close eye on as he heads into his freshman year at Itawamba AHS. His feel for pitching was very evident on Tuesday and should only get better as he moves forward. At 6-0, 175 pounds, Johnson already has a solid frame though added strength will help add a little more velo that will make his secondary stuff even tougher on opposing hitters. With the Indians losing a few very solid seniors look for Johnson to possibly get some serious action as a freshman.

Owen Roebuck OF / LHP / Nettleton, MS / 2026

Roebuck was yet another lefty at the event with an advanced feel for the mound and most notably his ability to throw his change-up low in the zone where it's really tough for hitters to make hard contact. The smaller framed southpaw from Nettleton throws strikes with all of his pitches which includes two breaking balls with significant shape differences. His velocity is average though we didn’t see many arms at this event with the action and feel as he had on Tuesday. He could be a big surprise at the next level.

Britt Spivey RHP / SS / Itawamba Agricultural, MS / 2029

Up and coming pitching dominated the event on Tuesday at Booneville and Spivey may have had the most upside out of all of them. The 5-11, 140 pounder has lots of growth ahead of him but the foundation is set. Spivey throws from a 3/4 slot and shape and action to both his fastball and sweeper were advanced. Right handed hitters should struggle to make solid contact as the fastball runs in hard and the sweeper consistently works it's way off the plate away. As the velocity (which is up to 80 currently) increases, his prospect status will as well.

Ethan Cates 1B / 3B / Mooreville, MS / 2026

Cates had an event high 96 mph exit velocity during his batting round on Tuesday with multiple baseballs finding their way over the left field wall. Cates was strictly looking to pull and used loft in his bat path which convinced everyone he was looking to do damage on each swing. He was a middle of the order run producer for the Troopers this past season and will look to help lead them back to Pearl in 2026 for another shot at a state title.

Rico Suber SS / 3B / Center Hill High School, MS / 2027

Suber showed some advanced and still developing ability in several areas on Tuesday which makes us want to see what the next calendar year can do for him. The 6-0, 150 pounder from Center Hill will get faster, he had a solid glove with a strong, accurate arm, and had one of the more polished batting practice rounds at the event. Suber, a right handed hitter, worked the middle to pull side of the field while connecting on multiple liners and will only get stronger which will add to his overall pop at the plate which was up to 91 mph off the Trackman.
