QUICK HITS

Gage Allen 3B / C / South Gibson, TN / 2028The Medina, TN native looks to be in line as one of the next talents from South Gibson High School who continues to produce talent every year. Measuring in at 5 foot 9 and 170 pounds, Allen looks likely to hit a major growth spurt over the next few years. Shows some quickness present in the 7.2’s that should continue to get faster, while showing athletic traits in the swing and defensively. Quick releases from behind the dish with developing arm strength in the lower 70’s. Cousin of one of the top prep talents in the state. Will be a guy we monitor over the next few years.

John Beasley C / 3B / Houston, TN / 2029We continue to like John Beasley, another talent that will step into a playing role early in his underclass years at Houston High school. Really was impressed with his tempo on the mound and the arm-ability that should be able to hold substantial more velocity as he matures. Sat 80-81 with over 17 inches of average IVB at 2100-2200 spin. Not only that, but shows exceptional feel for the strike-zone. The slider also already shows plus spin for the age coming in at 240-2500 with over 10 inches of average HZM. John shows a lot of upside on the mound and as he continues to mature over the next couple years into his high school career, looks to be a guy that we circle back to many times.

Rishi Bhavaraju LHP / 1B / Lausanne Collegiate, TN / 2026The Lausanne product got our attention this past spring where I was in town to watch the Memphis area DII-1A District tournament. Rishi was consistently getting quick outs, attacking hitters routinely with first pitch strikes and cruised through a complete game. For what he lacks in velocity, he makes up for in pitchability. Creates boar on the fastball up to upper 70’s. Also dropped a curveball with almost 11 inches of IVB with hardly any HZM, which he uses consistently against RHH’s. He also flashed a changeup in the 70-71 range with killed spin and late fading action. He will need to put on strength in the next year but looks to take the reins as the number 1 for a team that should compete down the stretch yet again in 2026. |

Will Dodds 1B / RHP / University School of Jackson, TN / 2029The rising freshman at the University School of Jackson quickly got on our radar after an impressive showing at the Memphis Summer ID. Coming in with present length in the stature at 6 foot 3 and and 160 pounds. Still somewhat awkward in the frame but will continue growing into it as he gets his high school career underway. On the mound, Showed good rhythm with the body down the mound with easy and projectable arm speed. Sat 78-80, while topping 81 a few times with present run and carry to the fastball. The slider looks good as it is with almost neutral IVB with straight HZM coming in around 10 inches on average and plays up with spin in the 2300 RPM range. Flashed a changeup in the 74-75 mph range with depth and late fade. Should be able to get high school hitters out next year right away and would not be surprised to see Dodds pitching varsity as a freshman.

Kane Fly 3B / RHP / Houston High School, TN / 2029The rising freshman that will be attending Houston is another guy that we have heard some rumblings about before the Memphis Summer ID and were impressed with what we saw. Not an overly big dude yet at five foot nine and just 160 pounds, but all the more reason to be excited as he looks primed to put on a substantial amount of weight over the next few years. Shows good sequencing in the box but really liked what I saw on the mound where he topped 80 with decent run on the heater. The slider also shows a lot of projection and will just need to continue to work on spin. Overall it was really showing and a guy we look forward to following as he gets going into his high school career.

Channing Foster RHP / SS / University School of Jackson, TN / 2029Another product that will be coming out of USJ, Foster would check in at 6 foot 1 and 180 pounds in a long and lean frame that should hold significant weight as he gets into his high school career. Showed smooth actions defensively working out in the infield. Really stood out on the mound, lived in the upper 70’s, touching 82 a handful of times. The breaking-ball needs some work that is typical of younger guys but showed feel for the changeup with is really impressive at this stage in his development. Overall he had a really impressive day and someone that we are eager to see again.

Cameron MacDougall SS / RHP / Collierville, TN / 2029The rising freshman at Collierville was someone that caught our attention quickly. Looked a lot more physical than the body suggested and looks in line to hold future substantial weight in a good way. The hit stick shows some projection with clean finishes through the zone. Already shows some power in the grip that should lead to higher ended exit velocity. Lived mostly line-drive through his round with a max EV of 87. Defensively showed a compact arm action with quickness through the throwing motion that should hold whip potential as he matures, but is already showing present arm strength topping 85 on throwdowns.

Carson Pennington OF / Arlington High School, TN / 2027The rising junior from Arlington showed a lot of potential in his BP round, working from a slightly crouched stance with quick moving levers. Worked down through the baseball in tune to a 91 mph max EV on mostly groundballs through the middle. Led the group for the afternoon in the highest average EV with 85.8. Also flashed 85 mph from the outfield working well through the baseball on pull downs with clean accurate throws. Overall, had a really impressive showing and will be a guy we will get more looks on going into next season with Arlington.

Colin Haskins 3B / C / Westview, TN / 2029Another guy that we had circled down coming into this event. Looked the part physically measuring in at 5 foot 1.5 and just shy of 180 pounds. Shows present athletic ability working into the low 7.3 range on the 60 with faster times to come as he matures. Will need to continue to get stronger but looks likely to mature and feel out much more as he gets going into his high school career. Maxed out at 90 mph during his BP round with mostly low line-drives and hard ground balls up the middle. Stayed through his finish after contact and showed good sequencing through the zone. Popped clean times with a quick trigger and quality footwork working out of his catching stance. Should hold considerably more velocity as he matures. Definitely a name to know as he gets going into his high school career.
