Quick Hits: 2025 Louisiana Top Prospect Games (2026 Class)

Louisiana Scouting Director

Lafayette, LA - On Tuesday, June 24 2025, the Prep Baseball Louisiana staff traveled to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, to host the lone invite-only event of the summer, which featured over 100 uncommitted prospects from the state's 2026-2028 classes.  Each participant went through a pro-style workout that consisted of running a laser-timed 60 yard dash using Vald Performance, defensive evaluations, and batting practice using Trackman Baseball and Blast Motion.  Pitchers finished the day off by throwing live to hitters during gameplay with Trackman Baseball running to receive all of their data and metrics.  Below, we take a look at some of the top performers from Tuesday's event in the 2026 class.

TOP PERFORMERS

William Power SS / 2B / Teurlings Catholic, LA / 2026

Don't let Power's 5-9, 165-pound frame fool you; he's a "gamer" in every sense of the word, as evidenced by his big spring for the Rebels, in which he hit .474 with 36 RBI.  He once again performed well on Tuesday and connected for the biggest blast on the day in Game 1.  With two strikes, he belted a hanging changeup for a no doubt home run to right field.  On top of his offensive production, he's also a reliable defender on the infield with smooth actions and a quick glove-to-hand transfer.  Power is a good name to follow the rest of this summer, as he's one of the top uncommitted infielders in the state's 2026 class.

Noah Gauthier RHP / St. Thomas More Catholic High School, LA / 2026

6-2, 180-pounds with projection still left.  Gauthier had one of the quicker and cleaner outings on Tuesday.  Working off the first base side of the rubber throughout a repeatable delivery, he used a compact arm stroke to release the ball from a near over-the-top slot.  The St. Thomas More product did a nice job of locating his fastball to the glove-side at 88-90 mph and showed developing feel for a sharp 78-81 mph slider.  He can also kill spin with a 78-79 mph split finger.

Kohen Boudreaux LHP / Iowa, LA / 2026

6-2, 190-pound durable frame.  This was the best that we've seen Boudreaux over the last year or so and was sort of a "coming out party" him.  He worked at a quicker and up-tempo pace with a drop & drive delivery down the slope, before using a a compact arm swing to release the ball from a 3/4 slot.  Boudreaux did a nice job of pounding the zone with his 84-87 mph fastball.  His best secondary offering was his spin-killing 72-73 mph split finger that dove late and tunneled well off his heater.

Carter Wilson LHP / Sulphur, LA / 2026

It was easy to see why Wilson had a successful spring for the Tors on Tuesday.  The uncommitted senior southpaw landed three pitches for strikes in any count, and showed an innate ability to manipulate the shapes of each of his offerings.  He can locate his low-mid 80's fastball to all quadrants and he did an excellent job of tunneling his 72-74 mph curveball off of it.  His fastball also played up with an average of 17.4" of IVB.  Wilson's best pitch was arguably his 76-77 mph changeup that he sells out of the hand with late fade.

Haden Heath 1B / OF / Alfred M. Barbe High School, LA / 2026

Physical 6-4, 210-pound frame.  Heath took one of the better rounds of batting practice on Tuesday and showed the ability to drive the ball to all fields, and especially to the opposite-field gap.  He starts in an athletic and balanced stance, before gaining ground forward during to a simple load and stride.  His bat path to the ball was direct and worked inside out through contact and to extension, and he maintained balance from start to finish.  As mentioned above, he did a really nice job of drive the ball up the middle and to the opposite-field gap with natural loft and carry, which produced exit velocities up to 99.2 mph.  Heath is also a really good defensive first baseman with solid footwork around the bag.

Landon Martin RHP / Northwood High School, LA / 2026

6-1, 185-pound frame with a strong lower-half.  The Northwood product showed some of the more intriguing stuff on the mound on Tuesday.  Working off the first base side of the rubber, Martin used a "rock & fire" type delivery, before using a short & quick arm action to release the ball from a lower release height.  It was more control over command of his pitches, which featured a 86-89 mph fastball with ride & run through the zone.  His 77-81 mph slider has the makings of being a future weapon with sharp & late bite down in the zone, and spin rates up to 2,781 rpm's.

Hudson Wood SS / 3B / Ruston, LA / 2026

Athletic 6-0, 175-pound frame with a lot of fast twitch.  Wood had one of the better all-around showings at Tuesday's event.  He posted one of the top laser-timed 60's of the day at a 6.76.  During batting practice, he connected for a lot of hard line drive contact up the middle and to the pull-side gap with a max exit velocity of 99.5 mph and an average exit velocity of 92.8 mph.

Nicholas Zeringue LHP / LSU Laboratory, LA / 2026

Ultra-projectable 6-4, 180-pound frame with long limbs and a ton to dream on.  Zeringue was one of the highest upside arms at Tuesday's event and will be a close follow moving forward.  Working exclusively out of the stretch off the first base side of the rubber, he attacked hitters with a 81-83 mph fastball that played up thanks to an average IVB of 20".  He wasn't afraid to pitch on the inner-half either, as he consistently showed the ability to drive his fastball in on the hands of right-handed hitters.  Zeringue paired that with a "1-7" shaped 75-76 mph curveball that tunneled well off his fastball and developing feel for a 76-78 mph changeup.

Tanner Forbes RHP / Catholic, LA / 2026

The 6-0, 175-pound right-hander out of Catholic (BR) had arguably the most efficient and effective outing on Tuesday.  Forbes worked quickly throughout a simple delivery before using a clean arm stroke to release the ball from a 3/4 slot.  His fastball sat in the 82-83 mph range with arm-side sink & run, but it was his 74-75 mph changeup that was the real separator.  Forbes was able to land his changeup with confidence to both right-handed and left-handed hitters in any count, and the pitch averaged 18" of horizontal movement.  Add in a 73-74 mph slider and you've got a potential starter or really good piece out of the bullpen next spring for the Bears.
