THE ALBERT STORY
We had a feeling Cole Albert was going to be special when he arrived at the LakePoint Sports Complex in Emerson, GA for the 2023 Junior Future Games. Representing our 13U squad, Albert played a key role in helping that team win the tournament, earning the win on the mound in the semifinals against Alabama.
Fast forward to this spring, and the 6-foot-4, 170-pound right-hander didn’t just crack the varsity rotation — he emerged as Vermilion Catholic’s ace as a freshman, and he saved his best performance for the biggest stage. After the Eagles knocked off Ascension Episcopal in the semifinals, Albert took the ball in the Division IV (Select) State Championship game against powerhouse Ouachita Christian. Unfazed by the moment, he delivered a complete-game gem, allowing just one earned run with one walk and three strikeouts to lead Vermilion Catholic to their first baseball state title in school history.
Albert was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Division IV tournament and earned 1st Team All-State honors — all as a freshman.
It’s been a remarkable debut campaign for Albert, and now he adds our Newcomer of the Year award to his growing list of accomplishments. The scary part? He’s already advanced beyond his years on the mound — and his upside is through the roof.
‘28 Cole Albert (LA) is going to be a name to follow closely in coming years.
