BTL Scout Day: Quick Hits
June 19, 2025
On Sunday, June 1st, the Prep Baseball Kansas staff traveled to the BTL Indoor Facility in Shawnee, KS to host the BTL Scout Day. This event, featured 12 players from the BTL program in attendence.
All of our events offer players the opportunity to update their recruiting resume and showcase their talents in front of our staff. We also use these events as identifiers for future invite-only events, like the Preseason All-State, our summer Top Prospect Games, and the prestigious Prep Baseball Future Games that takes place at the tail end of the summer. To see what our events offer, click HERE.
Earlier, our staff rolled out the day’s statistical standouts in leaderboard format within our ‘Stat Story’, which you can find HERE. Today, after combing through our notes from the day, we’ve compiled some of the event’s standouts within these ‘Quick Hits’. Read below to learn about 3 names that popped to our staff from Sunday's trip to Shawnee.
QUICK HITS
C/OF/RHP Collin Schmidt (Shawnee Mission South, 2027) continues to emerge as a high-end two-way prospect to watch in Kansas' 2027 class. The 5-foot-8, 178-pound soon-to-be junior made a loud impression on the mound in this look, showcasing advanced arm strength by running his fastball up to 88 mph and sitting comfortably in the 85–87 mph range. The fastball featured occasional heavy arm-side run that could give right-handed hitters plenty of trouble. He paired it with two distinct breaking balls—a 71–73 mph curveball and a sharper 74–76 mph slider—both of which he consistently landed for strikes. Schmidt’s arm strength translated across the field as well, reaching 90 mph from the outfield on his best throw and posting pop times of 1.87–2.00 seconds from behind the plate with a 77 mph catcher velocity. As he continues to polish his game and add strength at the plate, Schmidt is a name to keep a close eye on moving forward.

Fellow teammate, OF Everett Sims (Shawnee Mission South, 2027), continues to emerge as one of the more projectable prospects in Kansas’ 2027 class. At 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, Sims boasts a long, athletic frame with plenty of room for continued physical growth. He generates effortless power from the right side, topping out at 89 mph in exit velocity in this look, with a previous best of 97.5 mph, and has consistently shown the ability to handle quality arms in multiple looks throughout the spring. Defensively, he pairs that offensive upside with an 85 mph arm from the outfield. As he continues to refine his overall game, Sims is a name poised to climb the rankings.

Physically imposing at 6-foot-7, 250 pounds, Levi Robertson (Shawnee Mission South, 2026) was a clear standout on the mound in this look. The soon-to-be senior worked from a low ¾ arm slot, running his fastball up to 84 mph and sitting in the low 80s with occasional ride through the top of the zone and late arm-side life. Given his physical frame, there’s reason to believe there’s more velocity to come. He showed advanced feel for his arsenal, landing a sweeping 67–69 mph curveball that featured up to -10.9” of horizontal break. Robertson also killed spin effectively on a 73–74 mph changeup and mixed in a firm 78–79 mph cutter that can keep hitters off balance.
