QUICK HITS

Hayes Algee RHP / SS / Simpson County Academy, MS / 2027Algee has some upside as a position player as well but his bullpen set him apart on Tuesday at Clinton. Using a lower 3/4 arm slot and good run to his fastball the 5-11, 188 pound Simpson Academy product looks to be tough on right handed hitters. His fastball peaked at 87 mph and he showed signs of a solid, yet still developing secondary arsenal. His sweeper has good shape and when off just off the plate will get plenty of swings and misses. |

Austin Sanders RHP / 1B / Pisgah, MS / 2026The 6-0, 180 pounder was one of the more polished pitchers at the event with a true 3 pitch mix and fairly good feel for the strike zone. Sanders has some arm side action to his fastball and enough late life to get soft contact. His off-speed offerings feature a mimicking change up, and both a slider and curveball with distinct shape differences. He’s uncommitted at the moment though should have several options in time. |

Asher Cox SS / RHP / Madison Ridgeland Academy, MS / 2028Cox has a frame that is still maturing but the foundation is there north in the delivery and pitch shape. The 5-8, 140 pounder from Madison Ridgeland Academy has very loose arm action and some whip. His fastball gets into the low 80’s with much more to come. He also has 2 distinct breaking balls as well along with developing feel for his change up. One of the more exciting arms in the 2028 class we are looking forward to following. |

Jack Vance OF / LHP / Kosciusko High School, MS / 2028Vance is another player from the event that has some dual prospect ability though once he stepped on the mound we really became intrigued. He has some size at 6-3, 190 pounds along with a synced up delivery and solid foundation to work with. His change up really got us excited as it pairs well with his low 80’s fastball. The change has fading action and he has a feel for the strike zone already with the pitch that sometimes comes later. He also has a slider that is a very solid third pitch for the up and coming lefty. |

Andrew Butler OF / C / Jackson Academy, MS / 2027Butler had a solid all around day at Clinton on Tuesday. The 5-11, 180 pound athletic and left-handed hitting outfielder from Jackson Academy was pretty impressive during his batting practice round as he delivered liners to mostly the middle of the field to pull side. He registered the highest exit velocity of the day at 93 mph with averages into the upper 80’s. He runs well (7.19 60) and should get a tick faster. Butler also looks to have some instincts on defense with a developing and accurate arm from the outfield.

John William Walker SS / OF / St. Andrew's, MS / 2026Walker, a St. Andrews product, started the event with a blistering 6.44 60 which made the staff pay even more attention to him throughout the day. Still uncommitted, Walker should have some options as his high school career concludes next spring. At the plate, the left handed hitter had a solid round with a few liners to his pull side and exit velocities up to 88 mph. If he can learn to spray the baseball to all fields a little more, his speed will create problems for opposing defenses. He has a solid arm that was up to 80 mph across the diamond on Tuesday, though his legs may push him into an outfield spot at the next level.

Brenden Truss SS / OF / Kosciusko High School, MS / 2028Truss is a 6-0, 180 pounder athlete from Kosciusko that is still refining his tools. The rising sophomore started his day with a quick 6.77 60 and held his own with some older guys all day. At the plate he was up to 87 exit velocity though the bat path was in and out of the zone a little quick. As he stays more linear with his approach his ability as a hitter should increase dramatically and those EV’s will definitely improve. He also shows a developing arm and the ability to play multiple positions on the diamond.

Brady McKenney OF / C / Simpson County Academy, MS / 2028The Simpson Academy product was arguably the most polished player at the event and is only a rising sophomore. There is fluidity to his game and his body (5-10, 155 pounds) is still maturing. As he grows loos for McKenney to move up the ranks and position himself well for next level options. At the plate on Tuesday he used an all fields approach with several liners and exit velocities approaching 90 mph. He can also play both the infield and outfield which should allow for more ways to get his, developing middle of the order, bat in the lineup. |
