Ten Standout Single-Game Performances Seen This Spring
June 18, 2025
Throughout this spring, Prep Baseball staff traveled across Washington State, seeing over 70 high school teams battle it out. Several sides showed out during these looks, with a multitude of players showcasing their skillsets in big ways.
Today, Prep Baseball Washington highlights ten of the most impressive individual single-game performances we saw this spring. While there were an abundance of great statlines and appearances in Washington, this list focuses specifically on performances in games that were attended by Prep Baseball staff.
Below, we list the players and single-game statlines, followed by our scouting notes from the game.
3/15 - '26 C Hayden Galloway (Richland)
2/3, 2B, 2 R, 5 RBI, 2 BB
"Galloway had a massive offensive output while locking down the catcher's position. Maintains a quiet head with a loose, whippy RH swing at the plate. Game one was where he did the bulk of his damage, contributing in a huge way to Richland's 17 run explosion. Got the offense going early for Richland with a bases clearing double, and got to the pull side again for a single late. Also added another base hit in Richland's second game. Junior that showed well at PNW Preseason All-State continues positive looks."
3/18 - '26 RHP Jake McCall (West Seattle)
7 IP, 2 H, R, BB, 12 K
"The junior was the star of the game, with an outstanding complete game effort on the mound. Attacked the zone early and often with all three pitches, including a FB 81-83 with some ride, a plus CB 68-71 with sharp downward bite, and a CH 71-74 that killed spin well. Changed speeds constantly, had hitters off-balance and expanding the zone. Controlled tempo in delivery. Limited traffic and competed in the zone, on the edges. One of the most impressive early-season performances on the mound in Washington."
3/25 - '27 RHP Cooper Hordyk (Curtis)
7 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 11 K
"Fired a complete game shutout on 88 pitches and 63 strikes. Only faced 3 batters over the minimum. Pitching exclusively from the stretch, Hordyk keeps everything simple with a low effort delivery, short arm action & consistent direction towards his target. FB worked 81-84 and topped at 85. He commands to all parts of the zone and get some added deception with his tighter arm action. Spins CB at 71-75 with ability to land for a strike or expand when ahead. CH gives him a legit 3rd offering at 72-74 and he really kills the spin causing significant late tumble and a big speed differential. Overall he competes with a calm demeanor and is a very poised presence on the bump."

4/4 - '27 RHP/OF Zach Nelson (Lincoln)
2/2, R, 3 RBI, 2 BB. 4 IP, 5 H, ER, 2 BB, 6 K
"Delivered maybe the biggest AB of the night with a 2 RBI single to give Lincoln the lead in the 6th inning. Short, line drive approach at the dish with a barrel that stays through the zone. Also got the start on the mound, where he went 4 IP, 2 BB, 5 H, 1 ER, 6 K. FB ran up to 86 MPH but sat more in the 83-85 MPH range from a quick delivery. SL at 70-74 MPH was dropped in consistently. Quick arm, fierce competitor throughout. Impressive look."
4/15 - '26 RHP/INF Christopher Moore (Kentlake)
6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 13 K. 2/3, RBI, BB
"Attacked the zone for the most part on the edges with the FB, utilizing the SL to the top of the order that was sharp at times. Natural cutting action with the FB as seen in previous looks. Generated plenty of swing and miss. Velocity sat in the mid-to-upper 80's with the FB throughout. The junior also went 2-3 with a BB and an RBI at the plate, with bat speed through the zone and balance in the lower half. Mostly stuck to the pull side, extending to meet the ball out front with a shorter hand path. A long-time top ten junior continued to look the part."

4/23 - '27 RHP Peyton Crass (Olympia)
5 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, 10 K
"The sophomore was incredible in 5 innings of relief, shutting down GK's offense in a real pitcher's duel on Wednesday. Some deception created with a low-slot release that gave a ton of life to the FB up in the zone. Heater sat 82-85 throughout, paired with a big 12/6 curveball at 67-69 MPH. Crass has been leaned upon as one of the main arms for the Bears this spring, and Wednesday was the best outing of the season for the medium framed righty. Part of a combined no-hitter in Olympia's 1-0 win."
5/12 - '25 1B Lukas Cheha (West Seattle)
4/4, HR, 2B, 3 R, 2 RBI
"Taller, long-levered frame moved well with plus bat speed from the right hand side. Produced hard contact all game long with two extra base hits, including a no-doubt homer in the third inning. 1B-only type defensively made the routine play. The senior that was a key part of the Wildcats' state championship last spring will continue to be leaned upon heavily heading into state."

5/30 - '25 RHP/OF Justin Fuller (La Center)
7 IP, H, 0 R, 3 BB, 10 K
"Fuller shut down Charles Wright Academy in a 1A state semifinal matchup in Bellingham. The medium-framed athlete was dialed in from the jump, limiting traffic all day. FB sat 87-90 T91 from a quick, 3/4 slot release and a looser gloveside follow. SL at 74-76 got whiffs to the glove side of the plate. Senior also added a hit at the plate. Standout effort to send the Wildcats to the 1A state title game."
5/31 - '25 1B Logan Schuster (Lake Washington)
3/3, 2B, 2 R, 4 RBI, BB
"In a title game where several Kangs had great offensive days, perhaps no player did more than Schuster, who finished with the best statline of all Lake Washington players offensively. The medium framed righty bat featured a balanced, line drive approach, shooting the ball to the pull side and up the middle throughout. Schuster also went 1 for 2 with a walk and run scored against Puyallup in the semifinal, and had a couple of nice digs at first base defensively. Senior provided a spark toward the bottom of the lineup down the stretch for LW."
5/31 - '26 RHP Trey Thompson (Bainbridge)
6 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 13 K
"The Oregon commit spun a no-hit outing in 6 innings of work to clinch a 2A state title for the Spartans over the weekend. The Oregon commit was absolutely dominant, missing bats throughout. FB sat 87-90 T91 MPH, resulting in 7 K over the first three dominant innings. CB was main secondary offering at 74-77 MPH with sharp action. Tall, athletic frame showed late intent and arm speed. Fantastic outing in a state championship game."
