As the Spring season comes to a close, Prep Baseball Oklahoma takes an updated look at the 2027 rankings.  The sophomore campaign can offer big changes, with many players further developing physically and making bigger impacts on the Varsity level.  These rankings are compiled in multiple ways, utilizing data collected from our events, and our staff’s scouting throughout the spring and tournament seasons. Tools and projection do matter in the rankings but performance on the field is still highly valued. Today, we take a dive into numerous risers in our rankings that specifically put it together on the field to help lead their schools.

RISERS

Beau Davis 3B / 1B / Carl Albert, OK / 2027

Davis put together a massive spring for Carl Albert and sees a jump in our latest installment of our rankings. The physical third baseman showed the ability to perform at a high level in all phases of the game as a true middle of the order power bat, advanced defender on the infield, and also upside on the mound. In our opportunity to see him this spring, we saw the fastball move into the mid and upper 80s as well. Already a talented player, Davis still leaves room with big upside and opportunity to continue developing all phases of his game and is a name to key an eye on as a riser on the summer circuit as well.

Titus Hawk 1B / 3B / Choctaw, OK / 2027

Hawk put together a big year for the Yellowjackets hitting in the top third of the order throughout. He was a consistent producer in a variety of ways showing the ability to handle the bat as well as provide thunder and extra base hit power. A big frame, the 6’7” first baseman still has room to add mass and strength but the athleticism despite the long levered body is what jumps out with each AB. Consistently showing the ability to make adjustments within each at bat and hit with 2K, he already has maturity in the approach and mindset that will make him a must follow prospect for schools at the next level.

Benji Bauer C / 2B / Owasso, OK / 2027

Bauer was a force working out of the cleanup spot for Owasso throughout the spring. The right handed hitting catcher has maturity and the approach that are far more advanced than his age and the results also reflected that throughout the year. He showed the ability to drive balls to all parts of the yard, producing plenty of extra base hits, and anticipate many of those will begin to leave for home runs in the future. He is a name to know as he’s already shown the ability to be a force in the middle of the order at the state’s highest level.

Kaden Twyman C / 3B / Stillwater, OK / 2027

Twyman continued to grow throughout the year and rises in our latest installment of our rankings as well. The right handed hitter has versatility defensively, showing the ability to play all over the yard, and produce near the top of the lineup for the Pioneers all spring. The power continues to develop as he already has shown the ability to produce extra base hits from high level pitching like the 6A State Tourney 2-Run Homerun this spring. He’ll be a guy to watch as the summer gets underway with athleticism and versatility that could fill a variety of roles for a number of schools at the next level.

Drake Pace SS / 3B / Yukon, OK / 2027

Pace continues his rise after a big spring hitting in the middle of the Yukon Miller lineup. Pace showed the ability to use the whole field as well as the baseball IQ to take what opposing defenses give him. With a runner at first, he showed the ability to drive balls through the 3-4 hole and take what the defense gave him but we also saw his growth and development with a tape measure home run in the regional. Further, we’ve seen Pace play all over the infield and the versatility will be another asset for any school at the next level. The long levers are synced up consistently and the left handed hitting middle infielder will be a prospect for schools at the next level to see early this summer.

Mason Phillips SS / RHP / Deer Creek, OK / 2027

Phillips was a steady presence for Deer Creek this spring and the offensive output was consistent. Hitting in the middle of the order, he showed versatility in his offensive game as he hit deep in counts but also showed the ability to deliver loud contact in leverage counts. He continues to fill out a rangy frame and the production mirrors development. Sure-handed at shortstop, Phillips will be a name for schools at the next level to see as he continues to develop in all phases of the game.

Kellen Gaede OF / LHP / Claremore, OK / 2027

Gaede put together a well-rounded year for Claremore as he showed legitimate 2-way potential producing both on the mound and in the plate. The left handed pitcher has shown the ability to command his entire mix and his development is obvious with the velocity also trending upward. Offensively, the trajectory continues upward as well with strength and consistency barreling balls through the middle of the yard. Gaede is a must follow in the 2027 class as the southpaw already has advanced feel of his mix and the repertoire is only improving with each time out.

Jefferson Hodge OF / 3B / Mount St. Mary, OK / 2027

Hodge was a spark for a talented Mount St Mary squad throughout the spring playing solid defensive outfield and working out of the leadoff spot. He showed maturity in the approach and continued to produce offense at a high clip throughout the spring. In our opportunities to see him throughout the spring, the strong right handed hitter used the entire yard - against quality arms no less. His frame continues to fill out as he adds visible strength and the loud contact comes as a result. Hodge is a name to know for schools at the next level as he jumps up in our rankings, but the helium could easily continue as he looks to pick up this summer right where he left off in the spring.

Zerek Slater SS / C / Enid, OK / 2027

Slater showed the athleticism and versatility for the Plainsmen this spring providing value that is difficult to quantify. He showed the ability to play in the outfield as well as behind the plate and do so at a high level. Offensively, we had the opportunity to consistently see loud contact off his bat as he finished the year as the Enid leadoff man. Part of a talented crop of young talent in Enid, Slater’s rise in our latest installment could be just the beginning as his development appears to be just scratching the surface with his best baseball in front of him.

Elijah Parkhurst SS / 2B / Edmond Santa Fe, OK / 2027

Parkhurst makes a big jump after the sophomore was highly productive in our numerous looks this spring for the eventual 6A State Championship Edmond Santa Fe Wolves. The long-levered outfielder provided loud contact on more than one occasion resulting in doubles or triples. As he continues to add his developing frame, those doubles could very easily begin to leave the yard more frequently. A well-coached mature approach, Parkhurst is just scratching the surface as he’s in the zone for an extended period of time and already shows the ability to drive balls to all parts of the yard.

Dagan Grizzle 1B / RHP / Sallisaw, OK / 2027

Grizzle is a presence in the middle of any order standing at 6’5” and 250 pounds. He produced consistently in the middle of a talented Sallisaw lineup and their 4A State Tourney run. He has shown big power but also the ability to drive balls flat when the time calls for it such as the state tourney game against Newcastle. Further, there is legitimate upside on the mound as well with feel for a power mix and the ability to command to both edges. Grizzle is much more athletic than the frame typically offers and will be a guy for schools at the next level to see early.

Hudson Entrekin OF / 3B / Edmond Memorial, OK / 2027

Entrekin’s consistent development resulted in further production as the spring went for Edmond Memorial. He planted himself into the lineup and produced consistently down the stretch with numerous hits in our opportunities to see him. Further, the hits were driven to the middle or opposite field and included extra base hits. Entrekin is a name to follow as his body continues to positively change, adding mass, and already flashing maturity in his approach and ability to drive balls to all parts of the yard.

Nick Kelley SS / RHP / Owasso, OK / 2027

Kelley rises in our latest installment as he continues to show production as a result of hard work and development. On the mound especially, the body continues to add good mass and the stuff also trends upward. A clean arm, the velo is rising but that could be just the beginning for the Owasso native as he continues to flash command of his entire mix. As the summer gets underway, he will be a name to know and see early as he continues to show upside in each opportunity we have had to see him.

Jett Rogers 3B / RHP / Jones, OK / 2027

Rogers rises in our latest installment following a big year that saw him planted in the middle of a Jones 3A Regional Championship and State Tourney appearance. The left handed hitting shortstop continues to fill out a lean frame with present skills that simply help teams win baseball games. He has shown the ability to execute and handle the bat but also provide extra base hits when he has earned a leverage count. Rogers continues to show present ability with a still developing frame and offers plenty of upside that will be fun to watch play out beginning this summer.

Landen Vinzant RHP / OF / Washington, OK / 2027

Vinzant is fresh off another state title for Washington and he was a big part of it. The present on-field skills can do a lot to help teams win baseball games as he did throughout the year and especially in the state tournament run. The athletic infielder hit balls flat and allowed himself to use arguably his best tool, the run tool, to really pressure defenses. Further, he provides some versatility with the ability to play different places defensively. As he adds more to the frame, the upside will continue to grow, but schools should immediately take notice of the impact he is making on winning teams.

Stoney Yaerger RHP / 3B / Dewar, OK / 2027

Yaerger was extremely productive this spring for Dewar in a variety of roles and played a big part of the huge season for the dragons. The frame is long and lean with upside to get people excited about for future production. However, he continues to show present ability with the fastball riding and missing bats at the top of the zone. He also had a productive year offensively, using his long levers to elevate pull side and often times resulting in extra base hits. Yaerger sees a rise in our latest installment and will be a name to continue following as his development continues on an upward trajectory.
