NCHSAA Regional Final Recap

After four rounds of single elimination, the NCHSAA State Playoffs went to a best of three series for the Regional Finals round. The sixteen remaining teams, four from each classification, faced off the week of May 19 - 24. Winners move to this week with games being played in Burlington, NC and Holly Springs, NC to decide state champions.

Below we look back at each NCHSAA tournament as we prep for the State Championship series.

NCHSAA 1A Tournament

    + Voyager gets 2 in the 1st. Perquimans ties it with 2 in the top of the 3rd. In the bottom of the 7th, Voyager loaded the bases on 3 singles to start the inning.     + Perquimans starts fast, scoring 2 in each of their first 2 at-bats. They add another 2 in the top of the 4th to push the lead to 6-0. South Lenoir gets two walks to start the top of the 8th. A single was followed by a A Clements SAC Fly, scoring B Barnett with the winning run. North Lincoln answered in the 6th with 3 and tied it on a bases loaded RBI squeeze bunt from B Summey with one out. Tied into the bottom o fthe 8th, the North Lincoln Knights get a leadoff single from G Evans and back to back walks to Cason McGinnis and E Sipe. Cuthbertson's Nate Wilson hit a 2R HR in the 6th to cut the lead and the Cavs would strand the tying run in the 6th. The Rams 4 run 4th all came with 2 outs as JT Smith walked, Caden Davidson doubled, then Micah Simpson homered. A Parker Filipek single would score Jake Parham two hitters later.
