IHSA Diamond Notes: Week 10

Each week, IHSA coaches around the state submit to us their nominations for the Prep Baseball Illinois Player of the Week and Prep Baseball Illinois Pitcher of the Week honors. There were a number of impressive performances that deserve recognition. Here’s a look at some of the most notable.
WEEK 10 DIAMOND NOTES
+ Jacsen Tucker, SS (Oswego East, 2027):
Uncommitted, Tucker hit two go ahead home runs this week against Oswego and Lincoln-Way West. On the week, Tucker finished 6-for-12 with two walks, double, two home runs, five RBIs, four runs, and two stolen bases.
+ Devin Wheaton, 2B (Oswego East, 2026):
Uncommitted, Wheaton hit a clutch go ahead double against Oswego on Thursday. The junior has a quality week at the plate for Oswego fishing with four hits in nine ABs with a walk, double, five RBIs, three runs, and two stolen bases.
+ Aidan Terronez, LHP (Sherrard, 2025; Illinois-Chicago):
The UIC commit, Terronez tossed a complete game to get the 2A regional semifinal win. In seven innings of work, the southpaw had 16 strikeouts , two walks, allowed no runs, and four hits, propelling Sherrard into the regional championship.
+ Aiden Gonzales, RHP (Bremen, 2027):
Uncommitted, Gonzales threw a complete game shutout with ten strikeouts against Thornton Fractional South. Also, got the save against TF south on Monday. In ten total innings, the sophomore allowed no runs, two hits, two walks, and struck out 15.
+ Bren Milburn, SS/RHP (Crete Monee, 2025; Morton JC):
Milburn, a Morton JC commit, passed the IHSA single season stolen base record. Prior to Milburn, the record was 73, Milburn is currently at 88 with games to play.
+ Zane Caves, LHP (Minooka, 2026; Michigan State):
The Michigan State commit struck out 11 of the 19 batters he faced against Bolingbrook. Caves picked up the win as he allowed one unearned run, two hits and one walk through four innings.
+ Rowan Smyth, LHP (Evergreen Park, 2025; Lewis):
Smyth, a Lewis commit, struck out 18 batters through six and two-thirds shutout innings. He allowed one hit and two walks to pick up the win on the mound.
+ Isaac Wendler, 1B/RHP (Father McGivney, 2026):
Uncommitted, Wendler went 2-for-2 at the plate, including a two-run home run and a double against Bunker Hill in the regional semifinals. Wendler finished the week going 4-for-5 at the plate. Wendler also struck out eight batters through four shutout innings while not surrendering a hit.
+ Bryson Houchens, 1B (St. Joseph-Ogden, 2026):
Uncommitted, Houchens went 2-for-2 at the plate against Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond. He connected on a two-run home run in the first inning and finished the game driving in three runs.
+ Brandon Stinson, C (Kenwood, 2025; Prairie View A&M):
The Prairie View A&M commit went 5-for-5 at the plate against Lane Tech as he led Kenwood to win the Chicago Public League Championship. Stinson drove in one run and came around to score two more.
+ Alan Spencer, RHP (St. Bede, 2025; Danville Area CC):
Spencer, a Danville Area CC commit, struck out 14 batters through eight innings to help lead St. Bede to the Regional Finals. The senior didn’t allow an earned run while giving up four hits and one walk.
+ Brady Turner, LHP (Routt Catholic, 2026):
The uncommitted junior did it all for Routt Catholic as he led them past Brown County in the Regional Finals. On the mound, Turner threw a complete game while striking out nine batters and not allowing an earned run. He also connected on two doubles at the plate while driving in two runs.
