Texas Scout Blog: Standouts from Across the State
High school baseball in Texas is special. The combination of talent, competition, and passion for the game is unmatched anywhere else in the country. From the packed stands on Friday nights to the year-round grind that players put in to get better, baseball isn’t just a sport here—it’s part of the culture.
At Prep Baseball Texas, we’re out at the ballparks watching the best the state has to offer, and each week in the Texas Scout Blog, we’ll highlight the players who stood out. Whether it’s a top-ranked commit showing why he’s one of the best in the country, an uncommitted prospect making a name for himself, or an under-the-radar player who demands attention, we’ll shine a light on those making an impact.
This isn’t about box scores—it’s about recognizing the guys who are stepping up when the lights are on. Texas high school baseball is as good as it gets, and we’re here to make sure the players proving it get the attention they deserve.
Check back each week to see who caught our eye across the Lone Star State.
WEEK 13
Trent Vilade
Position: 1B/RHP
School: Prestonwood Christian Academy (2026)
Commitment: Texas A&M
Trent Vilade, a Texas A&M commit, showed well on both sides of the ball last week. At the plate, he displayed easy barrel-to-ball skills, ripping a double in the state semifinal. Vilade's approach at the plate is smooth, with a quick, powerful swing that makes him a threat in the lineup.
On the mound, he came in out of the bullpen and delivered some big outs when his team needed them. His versatility as a hitter and pitcher was on full display.
