Ventura, Calif. - On Saturday, June 7th, the Prep Baseball California team hosted one the Future Games Tryout: Central California on the campus of Antelope Valley College in Lancaster, Calif.. This was an invite-only event for the high school classses of 2026 and 2027. All 2026 graduates in attendance were competing for a spot on the Senior Future Games roster. The 2027 players in attendance were competing for rosters spots either on Team NorCal or Team SoCal at the 2025 Prep Baseball Futures Games to be held in later July at the LakePoint Sports complex in Georgia.
A talented group of 20+ players made their way out to Lancaster to participate both in a showcase-style workout and live at bats over the course of the day. Position players and two-way players started their day with electronic height, weight and grip testing before beginning their athletic testing by running a 60-yard dash on our laser timing system from VALD (providing 10 yard, 30 yard and 60 yard splits with a max run speed). From there the group underwent a defensive evaluation with Outfielders making multiple throws to 3B and home plate on video with their arm strength being recorded via a Stalker radar gun. Next up the Infielders undewent defensive evaulations with video and arm strength readings with 3Bs working out at their spot, middle infielders all working out at SS and 1Bs from 1B. Finally, Catchers completed the defensive workout by making multiple throws to 2B with pop times and arm strength readings with video. During the batting practice portion of the day all hitters in attendance had their swing metrics gathered via Blast Motion technologies to provide valuable information on their swing, batted ball data was provided from Trackman technologies and all swings are recorded via video. The pitchers or two-way players in attendance each would face five-six live hitters during the live at bats portion of the day with all pitches being tracked via Trackman technologies and video recorded of their deliveries and pitch shapes.
On a day full of standout players from around not only the Central Coast region of California, but stretching down into the Inland Empire and up into the Central Coast and Bakersfield. The competition was outstanding providing our staff with high quality evaluations of these players for their chances at earning a Future Games or Senior Future Games roster invite. For today we will highlight a mixture of the top 2026 performers from the day and 2027 performers of the day.
Note: A player's inclusion here does not guarantee a roster invite, simply they performed well during their tryout attendance.

Owen Shannon RHP / Mater Dei, CA / 2026Rankings StateRank: 202 / POS: 58
The Trinity League righthander out of Mater Dei made the trip up to Lancaster to take the rubber at FGT: Central California and made a strong impression. Utilizing a three pitch mix Shannon featured a FB in the 86.4 - 88.9 MPH range while showing spin rates above 2400 RPMs with a cut/ride shape from a 6'1" release height. He backed it up with an interesting SLD at 80.6 - 83.2 MPH that had a cutter like profile at times while peaking above 2700 RPMs on the pitch. Shannon showed off his Paul Skenes inspired SPLINKER that he threw in the 86-88.7 MPH range with heavy arm side life on the offering while getting quality vertical depth off his FB that he flashed control of in the zone. Shannon faced five hitters during the live at bats portion of the day effectively attacking the strike zone picking up three strikeouts, inducing a softer grounder to the right side while allowing just one hard hit ball. An intriguing overall profile with a high quality pitch mix and room to continue developing Shannon is a strong uncommitted 2026 name to know. |

Riley Moran RHP / Norco High, CA / 2026Rankings StateRank: 222 / POS: 63
Moran has been excellent across several looks at various Prep Baseball California events and with each subsequent viewing the Inland Empire righthander just continues to get better. Moran has found a consistent low 3/4s arm slot for his delivery and shows off strong presesnt arm speed which generates an intriguing pitch mix. Moran is an athletic mover on the mound who controls his body well while flashing solid feel for the strike zone and over his five batter look notched multiple strikeouts while allowing soft contact in the air and one groundball which would have gone for a single. Moran topped out at 89.7 MPH while living at 87.5 - 89.2 MPH over his outing on a FB which has riding life above the barrel (picked up consistent whiff at the top of the zone) showing spin rates above 2400 RPMs and up to 16.2" of IVB while throwing the pitch for a strike nearly 70% of the time on the day. His SLD continues to trend up reaching 78.5 MPH on the offering while living at 76.4-78.2 MPH with a sharp tight shape that has up to -6.1" of glove side action and spin rates above 2300 RPMs. His CHG is his primary secondry and shows arm side life with 15.4" of arm side fade on the pitch coming in between 79.2-79.9 MPH on the pitch while getting solid vertical depth off the shape of of his FB. Moran's mixture of continually upward trending pitch quality, athleticism in his opertion and still room to project more strength on his frame makes him an intriguing name to follow in the 2026 class for college programs. |

Andrew Albrecht RHP / Thousand Oaks High, CA / 2026Rankings StateRank: 347 / POS: 86
Albrecht made the trip out from Thousand Oaks and the broad shouldered, high waisted and long limbed righthander put together an impressive outing. Albrech punched out three of the five hitters he faced allowing one hard hit ball while inducing soft contact in his final hitter faced. With a prototype pitchers frame and a clean delivery operation that works from a high 3/4 slot the delivery foundation is strong while still showing room for additional gains as he adds more strength to his frame. Albrecht worked predominantly off of a FB in the 86-87 MPH range that topped out at 88.8 MPH on the day with spin rates above 2300 RPMs showing a cut/ride shape that had up to 16.2" of IVB over his outing. The righthander spun an intriguing curveball with power in the velocity at 79-82 MPH and showed intriguing vertical depth off his FB to play to a north/south attack profile off of those two offering. While as good as the FB/CB are for Albrecht he mixed in an intriguing SLD at 76-78 MPH while getting -9.2" of glove side horizontal movement and showed a CHG during warmups, but did not throw during live at bats. His four pitch mix and solid feel for the strike zone during his outing give off a starters profile for his future potential and is a high quality arm to keep eyes on for college programs. |

Andrew Weber 3B / RHP / Upland High, CA / 2027Weber showed off an interesting overall two-way profile with arm strength, solid hands and some present raw power in his offensive profile during the event, but where the Soph. righthander from Upland High shined bright was once he toed the rubber as the final arm to throw on the day. Having underwent the entirety of the position player workout on a hot day in the High Desert (temps reached above 100 degrees on the day) he came out firing from the first pitch of his outing against live hitters. Weber is strongly built with present strength in his lower half and room to continued filling out in his upper body at 6'2 229.5 lbs. with quality strength in his grip testing. He flashed a live arm with a clean delivery down the mound which he repeated efficiently while showing off an impressive four pitch mix. Weber lived at 87-89 MPH with his FB and you can tell there is more in the tank for him to reach the low 90's with ease of operation he shows getting down the mound. Weber showed ride and run in the shape of his FB while generating quality spin above 2200 RPMs and a spin efficiency of 92% on his FB. His SLD showed a strong two-plane shape reaching spin rates above 2500 RPMs in the 74-77 MPH range that induced both whiff/chase from hitters. Adding another strong breaking ball Weber spun a curveball in the 72-75 MPH range with moe vertical depth tha his SLD while generating spin rates aboe 2400 RPMs. For good measure he dropped in a CHG in the 79 MPH range that he flashed present feel to kill spin on (1600 RPM range) while getting arm side movement with vertical separation from his FB. With a strong frame that projects to a long term starter profile showing four quality present offerings that can all continue to trend upward the 2027 made an impressive showing in the High Desert. |
