VA/DC Class of 2027 Spring Update: New Faces

Take a look at few new faces that have made their way from unranked, to climbing into the Top 125 of the VA/DC Class of 2027. These individuals move in after they made an impact this spring in front of our staff.

Reid McElvain OF / C / Franklin County, VA / 2027McElvain has made some physical jumps that has impacted his sophomore year for the Franklin County Eagles. He is an impact bat in the middle of the order that has the chance to leave the yard when he steps up to the plate. He has strong, durable strength throughout the frame. He displays the power that is used well towards the middle and the pull side parts of the field. There is above average bat speed that brings some natural loft throughout the barrel path. The physical traits that he has is eye opening that provides some value to the left-handed bat.

Luke Murphy OF / 1B / Langley, VA / 2027Murphy has provided a valuable left-handed bat to the top of the Langley order this spring. It is a hit tool type of bat that shows the ability to use the whole field with line drive tendencies. He keeps a short barrel path with rhythm in the hands to deliver a consistent barrel path. He has a wiry, lanky frame that still has room to add strength. As he continues to mature he has the chance to add some impact to go along with the hit tool.

Evan O'Boyle RHP / 1B / NORFOLK ACADEMY, VA / 2027O'Boyle was put into a big role for the Bulldogs this spring as he was second on the team in innings thrown where he found some success. It is a strong 6-foot-4, 190-pound that brings some physicality to the mound. The fastball works in the mid-eighties that has been up to 86. He has shown feel for a bigger shaped curveball that has had some success in the zone. He is a promising young arm that has gained some experience that still has room to grow.

Bryson Pickeral RHP / 1B / ST PAUL VI CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL, VA / 2027Pickeral has thrown some quality innings throughout this spring for this Paul VI pitching staff. It is lean strength in the 6-foot-1 195-pound frame. It is a short arm action with easy effort from a high three-fourths slot. The fastball works in the mid-eighties that still has room to tick up over time. The slider has some late depth that has showed some success low in the zone. There are athletic movement patterns that gives him a chance to unlock more velocity as he matures.

Declan Schnabel 1B / 3B / GONZAGA COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL, VA / 2027The Gonzaga Eagles had some power production coming off of the bat of Schnabel this spring. He brings a physical type of game that has shows off strength in each gap. There is strength up top and has a strong base that generates that power. It is a quick, uphill barrel path that has some natural loft in the swing. His offensive impact came through time after time throughout the spring and that earned him All-WCAC Second Team honors. It was a big time spring for the impact bat that looks to continue that for the Eagles in the years to come.

Carter Walter OF / 1B / WESTERN BRANCH, VA / 2027Walter has stepped into the Western Branch lineup this spring and has ran with the opportunity. He puts together scrappy at-bats and is aggressive early in counts. It is a short, level barrel path that shows the ability to hit secondary pitches and use the whole field. He is a guy that can provide some versatility to the offensive game to make things happen for his team.

Kaden Zimorowicz SS / RHP / Gainesville High School, VA / 2027Zimorowicz has been a nice addition to the Gainesville pitching staff this spring. He has displayed some electric stuff in front of our staff this spring, including a dominating outing at the Commonwealth Classic. He is a athletic mover that has a quick arm, and lets his pitches play in the zone. The fastball works in the mid-eighties that has been up to 89 with life through the zone. He maintains arm speed on the slider that has late depth, that can be used as a true out pitch. He is a fierce competitor that thrives in high intensity environments.
