Then and Now
We have seen Fussell a number of times over the years with our first look all the way back in March of 2022 at Rising Stars Preseason All-State which earned him a Junior Future Games invite that Summer. The Mercer commit has been one of the most consistent names in the class and has boosted his metrics across the board from 2022 to January of 2025 at Preseason All-State. Max exit velocity increased from 85.1mph in March of 2022 to 98.9mph in January of 2025. Average exit velocity increased from 75.6mph in March of 2022 to 94.6mph in January of 2025. Max distance improved over 100ft from 259ft to 364ft. Arm strength has seen a 10mph bump from 75mph INF Velo to 85mph INF velo. 60-time improved from a 7.18 in January of 2022 to a 6.82 in June of 2024 at Top Prospect Games. With continued production this Spring Fussell can offer himself to be an impact bat as a Freshman for the Bears.

Mercer commit. 5-foot-10, 170-pounds. The overall growth for Fussell over the last couple years into an impact D-1 prospect has been impressive. A quality defender in the middle infield with a chance for an above-average hit/power combo and all of that was on display this weekend. Fussell took some of the best at-bats I saw all tournament, working deep counts and spoiling countless good pitches. Swing is extremely well-connected, utilizing a quick toe-tap trigger with minimal wasted effort through the zone. Really understands how to manipulate the barrel with an efficient back hip to the baseball as well. There's present impact in the barrel with multiple balls leaving the bat at 95+ while working the ball into both gaps.

Uncommitted. 5-10 165 lb. Fussell came to swing it this weekend. A very tough in the box! Came up clutch in multiple situations. Very mechanically sound and knows the game of baseball. Also came into pitch and just threw strikes. Came into a very tough situation with the bases loaded and 1 out and got his team out of a jam in 4 pitches. Aggressive in the box on the basepaths. Swiped multiple bags this weekend and contributed to the team's success. Athletic build with more to come. Great one to follow through the summer.
Uncommitted. 5-foot-9 160-pounds. Fussell is much stronger from this time last summer. He had a full year of varsity experience, starting at shortstop. He now has the power to drive balls in the gap. The approach at the plate has always been really good, but now we can hunt his pitch and look to do damage. In the field he makes all the routine plays. He ranges well up the middle, and has the ability to throw the ball on the run. He had a couple nice doubles plays that he took himself, and worked through the bag with the runner sliding into second. At the plate he stays in his legs much more, and has cleaned up the load to keep him on time consistently, especially against good pitching. Fussell will be a fun one to watch this summer and into next spring with an experienced lineup from Coffee County returning.
