Team Preview

The Belle Chasse Fighting Cardinals enter 2026 with confidence, identity, and one of the most competitive schedules in program history. Head Coach Evan Tageant returns a seasoned core built around elite pitching and middle-of-the-order experience—two ingredients that should keep Belle Chasse firmly in the postseason hunt.

Belle Chasse’s greatest advantage lies on the mound, where they feature one of Louisiana’s premier 1–2 combos in seniors Alex Richardson and Danny King. The Cardinals also possess reliable run-producers in the middle of the order, giving this group a chance to win every night.

While the top half of the lineup is proven, sustaining scoring throughout all nine spots remains a key area for growth. Several new faces will be asked to step into everyday roles, making development and consistency essential early in the season.

Top Returning Players

-2026 RHP/SS Alex Richardson

2025 Stats: 7–4, 58.1 IP, 101 K, 1.44 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, .164 BAA | .293 AVG, 2 HR, 9 2B, 1 3B, 16 RBI

2025 Accolades: All-District, All-Region, All-Metro (New Orleans), All-State (LBCA & LSWA)

A four-year starter and the unquestioned heartbeat of the program, Richardson returns after one of the most dominant pitching seasons in school history. He’s widely viewed as one of the top arms in Louisiana, and Belle Chasse will be in contention every single time he takes the mound. Offensively, he’ll once again anchor the middle of the order and serve as the team’s tone-setter—both on the field and in the clubhouse.

-2026 1B/LHP Blaise Galmiche

2025 Stats: .315 AVG, 28 H, 3 2B, 23 RBI

A three-year starter who has steadily improved each season, Galmiche is poised for a true breakout senior campaign. He’ll be a cornerstone defensively at first base and provide much-needed power and run production from the middle of the lineup. For Belle Chasse to reach its ceiling, Galmiche must be one of the most consistent offensive weapons on the roster.

-2026 RHP/UTL Danny King

2025 Stats: 3–5, 51.1 IP, 46 K, 3.27 ERA, 1.40 WHIP

King emerged as a reliable No. 2 starter in 2025, delivering quality start after quality start. His competitive presence and pitchability make him a crucial part of the Cardinals’ identity. In 2026, King will be counted on even more—not just on the mound, but also as a versatile defender and contributor in the lineup.

Underclassmen To Watch

-2028 MIF/RHP Jaxon Jones

2025 Stats: .289 AVG, 11 H, .413 OBP; Played in 18 games

Jones gained valuable experience as a freshman, starting all three playoff games and locking down a role late in the season. Now a sophomore, he’s expected to start in the middle infield and hit near the top of the order. The staff is confident in his mature approach, defensive consistency, and ability to spark the offense. Jones has a chance to become a foundational piece for the program over the next three years.

Team Outlook

Belle Chasse enters the season with legitimate postseason ambitions. Their schedule is intentionally loaded with top-tier competition to prepare this group for May baseball.

The Cardinals will lean heavily on the dominant pitching duo of Alex Richardson and Danny King, giving them a chance to win every series they play. Offensively, the senior core of Richardson, Galmiche, and catcher Caleb Corcoran will be responsible for setting the tone, providing leadership, and generating consistent run production.

With a strong upper-class backbone and emerging talent in players like Jaxon Jones, Belle Chasse has all the ingredients to take a significant step forward. If the younger players settle in and the offense becomes more balanced, this is a team capable of making noise in the Non-Select Division II playoff field—and potentially playing their best baseball when it matters most.
