The 2026 California high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across California.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in their respective CIF Section Championship Game, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview these individual programs across California. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Golden Hawks look well-positioned heading into 2026, returning six starters and eight arms from a 21-9 campaign and CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoff appearance. Under head coach Matt Lucas. El Dorado figures to rely heavily on run prevention and experience on the mound, with their top three pitchers returning. RHP Logan Steenburgen (2026) and RHP Jacob Alvarez (2027) headline the returning group on the mound, while fellow INF/RHP Justin Savellano (2026) adds another experienced arm with some versatility. Behind the plate, C Brady Abner (2026) gives the staff a trusted receiver and leadership presence.

The lineup features a young core, with upside present. INF Christian Rojas (2027) is expected to help anchor the offense while providing a steady presence in the infield. Underclassmen should have the opportunity to carve out meaningful roles, with RHP/INF Bennett Lee (2028), C/OF Darius Selway (2028), and RHP/OF Aiden Montgomery (2029) bringing intriguing, long-term upside. If the offense progresses and the arms continue to trend upward, El Dorado has a strong chance of building off of last season’s success.
