Class of 2027: Top Uncommitted Position Players

Cooper Trinkle
Scouting Director

As we lead up to our end of year update, our staff hints at impending moves with the release of our position rankings for each position in the class as our board stands at the conclusion of the fall. This class has already seen 36 players make verbal commitments now that the recruiting period has aged almost four months. With the updated release just days away, we've put together a cheat sheet for recruiters by highlighting the top fifteen position players that are still available on our board, listed in the order that they are set to update in.

Top 15 Uncommitted Position Players

Brayden Ring SS / Zionsville, IN / 2027

+ Ring brings a host of above-average tools with a slow heartbeat and an athletic, 6-foot, 175-pound frame. He is reliable at short with a sure-handed nature and easy above average arm that works in the mid-80s across. Offensively, the operation is smooth and repeatable, delivering the barrel on-plane with sneaky pullside power that is likely to elevate further after an offseason of development. A 6.9 runner, look for Ring to be one of the more coveted uncommitted hitters in the class in 2026...

Eli Harris 1B / OF / Jeffersonville, IN / 2027

+ From Fall State Games 2025: Harris left a lasting impression in his first event since transferring into Jeffersonville from across the river, and his performance earned him the unofficial MVP honors for upperclassmen. His presence was felt quickly, first with the 6-foot-4, 210-pound frame he brought to check-in, and he then turned in a 6.67 60-yard dash to begin the day. His batting practice round was filled with hard contact to the middle of the field, leaving the yard to CF on a couple different swings to show off the heaviness that comes with his right-handed barrel. He showed as not just a 5 o'clock hitter during gameplay, collecting five (!!!) impact barrels across two games, easily surpassing his peers. Three of his five barrels went for extra-bases, and the ability to impact the baseball to all fields was evident in these passes. Harris has been a buzzy name since the conclusion of this event, receiving attention from both recruiters in attendance physically, and those following our coverage online.

Cam Gates C / SS / Bedford-North Lawrence, IN / 2027

+ The top-ranked uncommitted catcher on our board as we lead into the winter, Gates is a versatile C/SS w arm strength and aggressive actions in total. His right-handed hacks play with a quality blend of feel & aggression with exits reaching 93-plus from an athletic operation. The arm is an above average tool, working 87 across the diamond, and allowing for above-average catch and throw skills (1.87-1.98 pops, 79 from crouch) with an easy average run time showing now (7.15). The in-game instincts here are some of the best of any uncommitted position player in the class with a strong chance that a big junior year is looming. #5 ranked backstop on our internal board, will see a slight boost on the overall rankings due to his ability to double as a reliable presence on the dirt.

Bo Blondi SS / RHP / Cathedral HS, IN / 2027

+ Silky-smooth in all aspects, Blondi stands as the third-highest ranked uncommitted shortstop with several traits that indicate his stock could seriously climb in 2026. It is a young-looking, lean, projectable, 6-foot, 155-pound frame that continues to evolve. While the run metric doesn't jump off the page, it is largely due to a lack of strength and I expect it to take serious stride in 2026, along with the bat strength/speed. Blondi does have some of the best zone awareness of this crop of uncommitted shortstops, with innate bat-to-ball feel to pair that he brings from both sides of the dish. Presently, the arm is the best tool and I still holds him in two-way regards as he's been up to 88 in front of our staff. The arm translates into the low-90s across the dirt, and his strength at short is the ability to slow the game down and make routine plays on a consistent basis.

Mark Neels OF / Carmel, IN / 2027

+ From 2025 Fall State Games: For the third consective event he has attended with us, Neels turned in the top 60-yard dash, burning a 6.61 60-yard dash on a brisk morning. He's burned into the 6.4s, a plus runner underway with evident explosive traits. He showed some pull-side strength in batting practice with a couple of pull side homers that stuck out there, hinting at speed/power upside that he has flashed in game. Neels collected a couple off-time hits during the gameplay portion, turning the knob tight to the chest for an adjustable path, and the L/L power/speed profile he brings continues to elevate with added polish/feel.

Shane Bardwell OF / Homestead Senior High School, IN / 2027

+ From Indiana 2025 Spring Scout Blog (4/25/25): Bardwell is an interesting sophomore outfielder that I followed in a Friday night matchup versus Cathedral. He is physical at 5-foot-11, 190 pounds and had a big 2-RBI double in his first at-bat in my look. Bardwell is a left-handed hitter who hits from a balanced stance before a bigger move forward. The hands launch from a low launch position and the swing works short and flicky with some impact. There is intriguing power/speed upside with Bardwell as he ran a 6.86 60 at our Preseason All-State event last month.

Paxton Lukac OF / RHP / Andrean, IN / 2027

+ From Fall State Games 2025: High-end athlete with ample twitch that participated in this event while in the midst of soccer season. Wiry, 6-foot, 170-pounder. Turned in a 6.8 60-yard dash (6.58 in the summer; attended FSG the morning after winning soccer sectional championship) to pair with 96-plus exits to bring speed/power upside. Barrel is presented on a flatter plane with standout rotational twitch. Best tool on the position side is his defensive abilities, true CF type defender. Also showed an athletic look on the bump with an 83-85 mph heater (has been into upper-80s) with a well-above average slider that played at 77-80 mph.

Amari Moore OF / Lawrence North High School, IN / 2027

+ From the 2025 Top Prospect Games: Moore has polished in a noteworthy fashion, especially with the bat. His right-handed swing is showing a more consistent pace & path with exits continuing to climb, reaching 97+ at this event. The bat strength has trended as muscle has been added to his compact, 5-foot-9, 180 pound frame. The feet remain as the best tool and his 6.6 60-yard dash and explosive capabilities makes it easy to see why he's been given the nickname "Turbo".

Logan Drake SS / Castle High School, IN / 2027

+ From 2025 Nitro Scout Day: Drake is a gamer-first SS with tools becoming louder as his athleticism begins to trend positively. His turned in a PR 60-time with a 6.90 60-yard dash before a low-intent round of batting practice where he sprayed liners with an on-plane stroke. His contact skills at the dish are the carrying attribute to this point and he offers twitchy strength behind a short barrel path with exits reaching 92.6 mph. He'll grow into more impact as his 5-foot-11, 165 pound frame adds more muscle, but the contact skills and present twitch establish a safe floor offensively. He continues to improve as a defender with athleticism gains attributing to more lateral range. His hands are above average and there is some feel for the exchange as he gets into a more-slingy arm action to carry the ball across. It is still a bat-first type prospect, but he is beginning to elevate other areas of his game with a chance for those tools to tick higher and higher.

Kaden Crumes SS / Yorktown High School, IN / 2027

+ From 2025 Prospects Scout Day: I got a good look on Crumes during the spring and he backed that with strong metrics at this event. He looks stronger than his listed 5-foot-9, 155 pounds, evident in the twitch shown in the box that produced exits approaching 95 mph. He starts tall in the right-handed batters' box, making a short, controlled forward move with quiet hands that turn a tight, uphill barrel. His sub-7.00 60 (6.97) is a quality time for the age and there is some first-step quickness to indicate strength will help him run even better once underway. On the dirt, he brought a polished look with efficient feet, soft hands, and quickness to the transfer.

Giovani Ardizzone SS / Roncalli High School, IN / 2027

+ Lean and athletic at 6-foot-1, 180-pounds, there is plenty of twitch in this operation that leads an impactful offensive profile. He posted huge numbers as a sophomore at Roncalli, and continued with quality looks throughout the circuit in 2026. His sixty times fluctuated from 6.69 to 6.82 in our showcase events last year, bringing another above average tool to pair with the bat. Defensively, his feet lead the profile with a rangy nature. Likely profiling at 2B, or as an OF long term, Gio will once again man the everyday SS job at Roncalli this spring with a chance to establish himself further with repeat production.

Hudson King 3B / Forest Park Jr-Sr High School, IN / 2027

+ From Top Prospect Games 2025: King brings a high ceiling profile as a 6-foot-3, 195-pound left-handed hitter that showed big strength in batting practice. He creates easy leverage in the swing with exits eclipsing 97 mph and pull-side strength beginning to really blossom. He has the ability to spray the field when needed, with 3B profiling as the most likely future home, though his 7.1 60-time and room for polish leaves the intrigue that he could develop the ability to move around the diamond.

Kasen Jessup SS / CF / Westfield, IN / 2027

+ A utility-type that we have regarded as T15 overall prospect amongst both shortstops and outfielders in the class, Jessup carries a confident aura to the box with real twitch and impact ability there. The twitchy, 5-foot-8, 165-pound frame packs a serious punch with upper-90s exits, pairing with a 6.74 60-time to bring a hit/speed profile that includes easy gap power. On the dirt, the feet standout most. It is a middle of the diamond athlete undoubtedly, with time likely to tell whether it is in CF, or in the middle on the dirt.

Jackson Graf OF / Noblesville High School, IN / 2027

+ From Fall State Games 2025: 'Data Darling' with an impressive toolset; 99.6 mph peak exit velocity, 6.79 60-yard dash, 84 mph arm from the OF. Some sync issues, but when the barrel head is on time, there is some real thunder here. L/L profile with 6-foot-2, 180-pound frame that really stands out. High follow with a chance to climb the board this spring.

Crewe Hasenour SS / 3B / C / Gibson Southern, IN / 2027

+ From Evansville Preseason ID 2025: There are big gamer tendencies here from the compact, strong, 5-foot-9, 185 pounder, and he has shown them in abundance to this point in his HS career. His best tool is his arm, and he showed it off across the diamond (up to 88) and from the crouch (up to 81) with pops into the 1.9s. His hit tool is also a well-above average tool - he turns a tight, upward barrel that he has feel to manipulate. His exits reached 93-plus, and his bat speed is above average for the class as well. His stats this spring will be followed closely (ended 2025 slashing .371/.422/.529 + 11% K rate) and his best profile may be behind the dish with the frame and toolset considered. He has solid actions on the dirt and plays SS at the HS level, though the average foot speed (7.21) he holds likely pushes him to 3B if he stays on the dirt. Regarded as both a T10 catcher and corner infielder in the class on our internal board.
