Looking Ahead: 2028s in the Mix for the 2026 Prep Baseball Future Games

The Prep Baseball Future Games stands as the nation’s premier uncommitted scouting event, annually drawing 400+ college coaches to LakePoint in Emerson, GA. In 2026, it will be the Class of 2028 representing Team NC, squaring off with top territories from across the country in a four-day event that blends a pro-style workout with three days of competitive gameplay.

With the updated 2028 North Carolina Rankings now live, the early roadmap to the Future Games begins to take shape.

✔ Team NC: The Road to the 2026 Future Games

Team NC will bring one roster of top uncommitted 2028 grads to LakePoint in late July, competing in front of the deepest college-coaching turnouts of the year. Looking back at the 2025 cycle, Team NC sent 25 players, with 10 already committed following the event. ✔ How Players Will Earn Their Spot

Roster selection for the 2026 Future Games will be finalized shortly after July 4th. Player evaluations will come from Preseason events, spring game coverage, and early-summer showcases, culminating before the late-July event.  To be considered, players will need to update their metrics and video at a 2026 Prep Basball event.

Here is the updated evaluation path:

Fall 2025 – Early Identification Begins

This past summer and fall, Prep Baseball scouts began building the initial follow list through events like the Super Sophomore Games, the Top Prospect Games, and tournament coverage. Players who emerged during those looks will now be tracked closely into the spring.

Preseason 2026 – First Big Checkpoint

Players will have an opportunity to solidify or elevate their standing at:
Preseason All-State (4 Dates in February)
NC/SC Border Battle (Tentatively Scheduled for Charlotte on June 10 & 11)
Other early Summer ID events (will begin in late May)

These events combine measurables, athletic testing, and positional work to give the scouting staff a clean, updated read heading into the season.

Spring 2026 – Live Game Evaluations

The Prep Baseball NC scouting staff will again be out for 400+ high school games, blending game-speed evaluations with winter and fall data. Spring performance can push new names into contention—or separate players already on the radar.  The scouting staff will prioritize games and matchups in the spring with players that have updated their player profiles at Prep Baseball events.

Summer 2026 – Final Looks Before Selection

Events in June & July will provide one more key evaluation window before the roster is finalized in early July.

To qualify, players must attend a Prep Baseball NC event in 2026. The combination of stats, in-game performance, athletic markers, and projectability will drive final roster decisions.  The updated information allows the scouting staff to update coaches and scouts on the quality of players attending national and regional events.

✔ Early Looks at the 2028 Class

The first wave of 2028s on the radar emerged at the 2025 Super Sophomore Games, where they competed against some of the top underclass talent from across the East Coast. Their performances there—and continued growth in the months that followed—helped shape the updated 2028 rankings and the early Future Games conversation.

Below are 10 ranked 2028s, organized by position, who have shown traits that could fit the Future Games profile based on their 2025 performances. Each player will have video embedded in the final blog.

10 Players to Watch for the 2026 Team NC Future Games

Right-Handed Pitchers

Brax Thompson – RHP, Providence HS

Lean, athletic mover with advanced arm speed for the class. Shows feel for a three-pitch mix with a fastball already climbing into the mid to upper-80s and projection for much more.

Duncan Carver – RHP, AC Reynolds HS

Physical frame with present strength. Fastball carries at the top of the zone and the breaking ball flashes depth; one of the more competitive arms in the class.

Left-Handed Pitchers

Sean Rodesiler – LHP, Davidson Day School

High ceiling left-hander with a big arm that will continue to see growth in the coming years. Athletic hips and solid mover down the hill. Spins a breaking ball that projects into a real weapon.

Garrett Burris – LHP, Lake Norman Charter

Long, projectable athlete with a strong arm. Fastball shows early life and the slider is positioned to be a big weapon as he continues to climb levels. Possesses the foundational traits that tend to flourish in Future Games environments.

Shortstops

Thomas Piscorik – SS, Wakefield HS

Advanced defender with clean actions, rhythm, and the ability to stay on the move. Offensively, shows barrel accuracy with growing strength.

Tyler Jackson – SS, Southeast Alamance HS

Quick-twitch athlete with arm strength and lateral range. Offensively, the swing works with ease and he impacts the baseball with leverage.

Graham Virag – SS, Cardinal Gibbons HS

High-motor infielder with an advanced internal clock. Ball jumps off the barrel, and he shows the versatility to play multiple spots on the field.

Corner Infielders

Troy Haynes – 3B, Green Hope HS

Physical right-handed bat with strength at contact and emerging bat speed. Profiles as a middle-of-the-order presence with improving mobility at third.

Catchers

Henry Tutera - C, Christ School

Strong catch-and-throw skill set with carry and accuracy. Good athlete with room to his ceiling as he continues to mature into the frame.

Lincoln Lawson – C, Randleman HS

Athletic receiver with quiet hands and developing arm strength. Offensively, flashes balance and feel for the barrel with more power coming.
