The 2026 Mississippi high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Mississippi.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons at Pearl’s Trustmark Park, in the State Tournament finals at the end of May, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Mississippi. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

2026 OUTLOOK

+ Water Valley enters the 2026 season with momentum and a solid foundation after a 14–9 campaign that carried them to the Second Round of the 2A playoffs. Under head coach Cole Camp, the Blue Devils return a strong core of position players and two key arms that will once again make them a factor in District 2-2A.

Offensively, Water Valley brings back plenty impact bats who have logged meaningful varsity innings. Parker Turnage (2026) and Allen Paysinger (2026) anchor the infield and provide a steady run-producing presence, while Aaden Reed (2026) gives the lineup a spark with athleticism and experience across the outfield. Luke Bynum (2027) and Parker Chapman (2028) round out the returning group, offering reliable defense and continued offensive upside as both players step into expanded roles.

On the mound, the Blue Devils will lean heavily on returning right-handers Allen Paysinger (2026) and Brennan Carter (2026). The duo brings poise, strike-throwing ability, and the kind of varsity experience needed to compete deep into district play. Their production will be a major key as Water Valley works to replace innings and build consistency within the pitching staff.

With a few seasoned position players, returning arms, and a roster that continues to progress, Water Valley has the pieces in place to remain a contender in 2-2A and push for another postseason appearance in 2026.
