CHARLOTTE, NC -- The First Team North Carolina Baseball All-State selections featured standout performances across all positions, with elite-level production highlighting the state's top high school talent. At the plate, middle infielder Coy James (Davie, 2025) posted a jaw-dropping .605 batting average and a 1.222 slugging percentage, adding 15 doubles, 4 triples, and 9 home runs, along with 21 stolen bases. Fellow shortstop and Prep Baseball All-American Game alum Josh Hammond (Wesleyan Christian, 2025) also impressed with a .471 average, 11 doubles, and 29 walks, showing exceptional plate discipline. Outfielder Gunnar Alm (Polk County, 2026) delivered an explosive season, batting .544 with 10 doubles, 8 home runs, and 29 stolen bases, making him one of the most dynamic threats in the lineup.
On the mound, several pitchers dominated with near-perfect records and microscopic ERAs. Carrick Ryan (Voyager Academy, 2025) was flawless at 11–0 with a 0.43 ERA and 103 strikeouts in 65.2 innings, while Case Gibbs (Metrolina Christian, 2026) tallied an 11–1 record with a 0.67 ERA and 127 strikeouts across 72.2 innings. Left-hander Luke Hemric (Apex Friendship, 2025) posted a spotless 8–0 record and an eye-popping 0.30 ERA, fanning 95 batters in just 46 innings. These dominant pitching stats, paired with high-octane offensive performances, reflect the deep pool of baseball talent across North Carolina's high school ranks in 2025.
