NJ Summer ID I: Quick Hits

On Sunday, June 8th, the Prep Baseball New Jersey staff traveled down to the Centenary University in Hackettstown, NJ for the NJ Summer ID I.
This event is always a great opportunity for us to get our eyes on the talented players in the Northern part of the state and this year's showcase proved to be a successful.
We wanted to take the time to highlight a number of the standout players from the event in a takeaways story, found below.
POSITION PLAYERS
MIF Ryan Todisco (Howell, 2026) showed significant strides in his game since this winter's Last Chance Open. Todisco started his day off with a loud showing during batting practice, barreling baseballs throughout his round with an average EV of 88.2 mph, while leading the event in max exit velocity (96.7 mph). He was also impressive on the infield where he was second overall at the event in infield velocity (83 mph). As strong as his arm played, he was also light on his feet, with smooth infield actions. Todisco is going to be an uncommitted name for coaches to follow throughout the summer.

C Justin Zdeb (Union County Tech, 2026) is a physical backstop, standing at 6-foot-3, 184-pounds. Zdeb had an impressive day all around, flashing a solid round of BP in the beginning of the day, showing EVs north of 91 mph, as well as flashing some bat speed. Zdeb had a quality round of defense as well, with pop times between 2.06-2.22 and a catcher velocity of 71 mph. Zdeb has made massive improvememts on his overall gave since his last showing and will continue to grow as a prospect.

C/INF AJ Infantolino (Don Bosco Prep, 2027) currently ranked No. 45 in the state's 2027 class, Infantolino showed to be an intriguing prospect after last Sunday's event, he led the event in all catcher stats, with a pop time range of 1.93-2.09, and a catcher velocity of 77 mph. The strong arm also showed during his round of infield, where he reached 86 mph, the top INF velo from the event. The incoming junior is had a peak EV of 89 mph at this event, but has been 95+ mph in the past, also flashed some bat and hand speed during his round.

INF Blake Tyburczy (West Milford, 2028) broke onto the scene this year, previously attending the PAS Underclass event in the winter, now showcasing at this summer's first open ID event. A 5-foot-10, 162-pound MIF, Tyburczy displayed a strong round of BP as well as a solid defensive round. At the plate, the incoming sophomore reached 92 mph EV and reached a max distance of 316'. Defensively, tossed 76 mph across the diamond, but previously has been up to 81 mph. Tyburczy is a prospect to watch throughout his high school career, with a solid foundation already build, he should only continue to grow his game.

TWO WAY
RHP/INF Luca Lanza-Ronquillo (Glen Rock, 2027) holds big upside on the mound, as well as with the bat. With a 6-foot, 160-pound frame, Lanza-Ronquillo flashed a lively arm on the mound with his fastball sitting 81-82 T83 mph, flashed a curveball at 68-70 mph with 2200+ rpm, and a changeup at 77-79 mph with 19+ in. of total movement. Offensively, is projectable with EVs up to 86 mph with growing bat speed. Tossed 80 mph across the infield during his defensive round.

PITCHERS
LHP Trent Ferrara (Paul VI, 2026) had the most impressive bullpen of the day, with a projectable 5-foot-9, 155-pound frame, Ferrara showed a five pitch mix, starting with a fastball at 81-82 mph, with 2280+ rpm. The southpaw added a curveball, with an average spin rate of 2286 rpm and 21+ in. of HM, a slider at 71-72 mph that filled up the strikezone, a changeup 74-77 mph with 14 in. of HM, and finally, a sinker with 21 in. of HM at 80-81 mph. Ferrara will continue to grow and his velo will continue to tick up over the next few years.
