Prep Baseball Louisiana State Rankings: 2026 Class (May 2025)

Now that the 2025 high school season has come to an end, we’ve decided to roll out a post-spring update to our Class of 2026 Louisiana Player Rankings, with some subtle shifts inside the list, which has now expanded to 300 prospects. With the summer season looming, we’ve decided to give a snapshot of the Top-10, a look at some players who had a big spring, and a look at some uncommitted players that are good names for college recruiters to circle this summer.
As always, our evaluation process is fluid and ongoing, built on multiple viewings and discussions to get the most accurate feel for each player’s abilities. It’s worth noting that while some players show rapid improvement, this doesn’t suggest that others have regressed—player development is simply a journey with peaks and valleys. As the season unfolds, new names will continue to surface, expanding the universe of top prospects in the Bayou State. In addition to our player evaluations, our scouts—both in-state and nationally—have been in constant dialogue, comparing notes and making adjustments based on the latest insights to ensure the rankings are as up-to-date and accurate as possible.

BIG SPRING PERFORMANCES IN THE TOP-10
Braylen Montgomery OF / OF / Walker, LA / 2026Rankings StateRank: 2 / POS: 1
The former Future Gamer and Oklahoma recruit moves up to #2 in this update after another big spring, which saw him take home 1st team All-District honors and the Parish Offensive MVP award. Montgomery finished his junior campaing hitting at a .424 clip with a .571 on-base percentage. He tallied 53 total hits with 6 home runs, 29 runs batted in, and 19 stolen bases.

Miller Sheets SS / RHP / Sterlington, LA / 2026Rankings StateRank: 4 / POS: 1
Sterlington fell one win short of a State Title in 2024, but Sheets and company made sure that didn't happen this spring, as they hoisted the Division III (Non-Select) trophy last weekend with a 5-3 win over Erath. The former Future Gamer and Baylor commit put up eye-popping numbers this spring. He ended with a .435 average, a whopping 67 total hits, which included 4 home runs, 23 doubles, 2 triples, 57 runs batted in, and 56 runs scored. Sheets also struck out only 4 times the entire spring.

Lucas Lawrence LHP / 1B / Catholic High School, LA / 2026Rankings StateRank: 6 / POS: 2
Filling the shoes of departed senior William Schmidt wasn't going to be easy, but Lawrence delivered and helped Catholic BR claim their first back-to-back State Titles in program history. The former Future Gamer and Southern Miss recruit posted a 10-2 record with a 1.20 ERA to go along with 54 strikeouts across 64.2 innings pitched.

Evan Vincent LHP / OF / Teurlings Catholic, LA / 2026Rankings StateRank: 7 / POS: 3
Vincent has had a heck of a two year run for the Rebels, as they've won back-to-back State Titles and he's also taken home the Most Outstanding Player award at the state tournament in consecutive years. The Louisiana-Lafayette recruit was just stellar all spring, posting a perfect 10-0 record with 1 save and a 1.26 ERA with 86 strikeouts across 61 innings of work.

Dominic Pellegrin SS / 2B / Holy Cross, LA / 2026Rankings StateRank: 10 / POS: 2
Pellegrin's game is much more than just the numbers, but he did end up having one of the better offensive season's in the entire state. The Tulane commit led Holy Cross to the semifinal round of the players after hitting .462 with 6 home runs, 16 doubles, 2 triples, 38 runs batted in, and 35 runs scored. He also played outstanding defense at the shortstop position, as he only committed 4 errors all spring and fielded at a .966 clip.
