Quick Hits
Bryce Fontenot, 1B/RHP, 2027, Cherokee Bluff
Fontenot has emerged as one of the top corner infielders in the class this spring after a breakout sophomore year at the plate and that was on full display during this past weekend. Standing 6-foot-2, 235-pounds, Fontenot utilizes the immense strength in the frame with ease, showing very minimal wasted effort in a right-handed swing that shows great barrel length in-zone. Generated some outlandish exit velocities in a loud round of BP, leading the day in both Max EV (104.7) and Max Distance (387ft.). The first baseman would continue the impressive showing into gameplay going 3-for-3 with 3 hard-hit barrels that generated a double and two HR, including one to dead CF. Easy to see plus in-game power ceiling as he continues to tap into 60 grade raw on a frequent basis.
It’s been nothing short of an eye-opening year for 2027 CIF/RHP Bryce Fontenot.

1️⃣0️⃣4️⃣.7️⃣ EV in a loud round of BP before losing one to LCF in gameplay as well.
1.393 OPS, 13 HR, 28/16 BB:K this spring w/ a chance at a state championship this week.@PrepBaseballGA#USAScoutDay pic.twitter.com/O0h4SsfobJ
Evan Moody, OF, 2026, Carrollton
The athletic profile for Moody only continues to grow as he heads into a vital summer. Armed with a barrel chested 6-foot-0, 210-pound frame, Moody flashed a plus run tool while putting down a 6.53 60 to lead the entire event and four-tenths better than this time last summer. Line-drive approach at the plate both in BP and in gameplay where he peppered the gaps, showing quality barrel feel and impact (Max EV 101.9). There’s defensive versatility for Moody to profile across the outfield with above-average arm strength to only help the run tool.

Explosive hands through the zone with feel for the barrel in an all-fields approach.

Jake Spurlin, SS, 2027, Tift County
It’s just another setting where Jake Spurlin makes more strides in the well-rounded profile. The SS cut three-tenths off of his 60 since we saw him in the fall, running an impressive 6.89 while showing great closing speed from a long stride.

Jamus Wingate, RHP/3B, 2026, Piedmont Academy
Uncommitted. Fresh off an Elite 8 run with Piedmont Academy this past week. Wingate would have a stand-out showing on both sides of the ball Sunday evening. The physical 5-foot-11 pound RHH would find barrels throughout BP with a strong middle-of-the-field approach. Feel for the barrel stands out with compact, explosive hands through the zone (Max EV 94.2, Max Distance 355 FT.). As well as maintaining good balance throughout with present strength throughout the lower half. Wingate would then jump on the mound to round it out as one of the last arms to throw on the night. Fastball showed easy life out of the hand as it lived 86-88 T89.4. Curveball paired nicely off the fastball at 73-76 and created good depth. Changeup was worked in at 78-80. There is still much more to come within the frame/profile on both sides of the ball for Wingate. Will be an uncommitted name to watch over the summer.
Parker Troughton, SS, 2027, Pope
Exuding hitterish traits throughout his round of batting-practice, Troughton would carry it over into gameplay. As he would come up to the plate in his second at-bat and explode through the zone to touch off one every bit of one to straightaway CF for a HR. Bat speed and barrel feel is present in a compact stroke with budding impact in the barrel as well. There is strong projection both within the lean, athletic 5-foot-11 frame and profile for the now rising junior.
Chandler Mathis, OF/RHP, 2027, Pope
The projection is clear to see for Mathis, standing a physical 6-foot-3, 185-pounds. Produced solid numbers across the board in BP with a Max EV: 94.1, Max distance: 343 FT., and 75% hard-hit rate. Mathis would steadily find the barrel throughout gameplay with a backside barrel for a base-hit to show for it. As he syncs up well and creates excellent separation with present feel for the barrel and ability to manipulate in-zone within an all-fields approach. On the mound, Mathis provided a quality look as he would attack the zone and make quick work in his appearance. Fastball sat 82-85 T85.7. Exhibited good feel for spin with the slider at 74-75. Changeup was thrown over at 71-74.

Rylin Lyemance, 3B, 2027, Walton
Potent cuts would be taken throughout batting practice to result in strong metrics across the board (Max Distance: 348 Ft. and 50% hard-hit rate). Lyemance would open gameplay with the first base-hit of the game as he would fire one into the LCF gap for an easy 2B. Staying compact through the zone with obvious physicality in the box, Lyemance is able to deliver a heavy barrel with pull-side leverage present. There is immense projection remaining within the 6-foot-4 frame.
Makayle Moon, OF, 2027, East Forsyth
Performing in each setting we see him, Moon produced yet again throughout the afternoon. Starting the day off he ran one of the top 60 times as he clocked at a 6.84-60-yard dash. Also was one of the leaders in hard-hit rate throughout batting practice as he showed a strong ability to find barrels and spray the ball to all-fields. Moon would come through with a pair of barrels in gameplay as well. As he stays extremely well-connected with above-average feel for the barrel backed by easy leverage and good balance throughout. Loud tools litter the profile on both sides of the ball that consistently show up in-game.
