Group 4 State Tournament: Semifinal Wrap up

The semifinal round of the Group 4 NJSIAA State Tournament wrapped up with plenty of excitement across all brackets. Each bracket featured two games, narrowing the field down to just two teams remaining in each. The semifinal round delivered its fair share of upsets, as lower-seeded teams rose to the occasion and knocked off favorites. There were also standout performances from both teams and individual players, setting the tone for what promises to be an intense and competitive tournament. The action picks back up later today with the Sectional Championship, as the remaining teams look to finish off a sucessful season. Today, we will be taking a look at the results from the group 4 semifinal games.
NORTH 1 BRACKET
+ The North 1 bracket was interesting, as top seeded Livingston was defeated by Ridgewood 10-7, Ryan Savitscus had four hits, three runs, and two RBIs. in the bottom part of the bracket, second seeded Passaic Tech took down Morristown 8-6. Ridgewood and Passaic Tech will battle today for the group 4 Sectional title.
NORTH 2 BRACKET
+ in North 2, top seeded Ridge defeated Elizabeth 5-1. In the bottom of the bracket, third seeded Westifeld took down second seeded Woodbridge 8-4, Brown commit Grant Como almost went the distance, tossing 6.2 innings, striking out five. Ridge amd Westfield will compete for a Sectional title today at 4:00 PM.
CENTRAL BRAKCET
+ In the Central bracket, underdog nine seed Hillsborough mercied Montgomery 10-0 in five innings, Alex Reiling tallied a home run while Andrew Advani had three hits. In the other semifinal game, Old Bridge beat Edison 4-3 in eight innings, Chris Crosta had two hits including a triple and two runs.
SOUTH BRACKET
+ In the southern bracket, the top two seeds advance to the championship with Cherokee slaughtering Kingsway 11-1 and Eastern beating Vineland 9-6. Matt Gryskiewicz had three hits including two runs, two RBIs, and a triple. The top seeds will be taking eachother on in the championship tomorrow evening.
